Google Ultra High config. Not much change in FPS but a drastic visual boost. It's what all my screenshots ran.

I got fed up with Vista Home Premium 64 bit eating my rig alive with crappy driver handling, so I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I'm in love with it. I've almost tripled my benchmarks by switching.

They cleaned up Windows 7 quite a bit. It takes about half the resources of Vista in order to run

I've noticed that within the first few minutes. Loading anything is instantaneous. I have a feeling they borrowed some techniques from the developers of the new google OS on how to make it barebones, yet able to precache at the same time.

All I can find are youtube videos bragging about it, or forums full of people besting about not being able to run it..

I haven't found any sort of instructions for enabling it.

Bah, now I'm having problems with my card. Booted up L4D, max settings as usual, and on Vista it would run about 120-150 steady. Running at about 5-30. I installed both drivers as usual that you did, didn't touch the CCC this time. I'm gonna try installing the latest audio drivers to see if that'll help.

Nope, didn't help... GUH! I'll just go back to vista if this doesn't change. ATI needs to get their driver crap straightened out.

maybe its not driver related. check for background programs running. if its a new 7 install it might be automatic updates.

Automatic updates are disabled, always disable them. I also run gamebooster which turns off all the unnecessary background junk. Updating to driver 10.3.

That driver fails too. *Sigh*... This is getting so frustrating.

Figured it out. Windows thought it would outsmart me and when I installed the 9.12 driver, it said "sure okay" but never actually did it. It had the latest drivers cataloged and when I would install it would pretend to do it but just keep the most up to date anyways. Beat it by uninstalling it all, running driver sweeper to remove all ATI catalogs, and reinstalled. Works as intended now.
