If I remember correctly you have a HD5800- series GPU right? I'm having driver issues up the yin yang. How did you solve yours? I'm running Win 7 ultimate x64 on the new rig. |

Yeah I have the XFX HD5850, I had driver issues as well, really bad. Originally I had an issue with the inflating mouse cursor, and that got annoying. I updated my drivers to the one that said has the issue fixed, but it didnt. Waited for the next set and then it seemed to have fixed my mouse cursor issue, but it couldn't run any Source engine games. I found the sweet spot was driver 8.682.2.0 (12/14/2009) + Hotfix. Driver + CCC Hotfix Should solve your problems, it is the most stable release I've found so far. The ONLY issue I've had with it is randomly when I reboot my rig, for about 3-5 seconds right after it finishes loading the Windows files the fans will jump to 100% and then go back down to normal. The temp's don't raise any and it doesn't seem to damage anything, but it is a little frightening and not exactly welcomed. |

Sir, I know we have had our differences in the past (and probably in the future too) But, if you're ever in the Philly area, I will buy you a beer. That has worked perfectly. I've been burning in my graphics card at about 90% load for the last hour or so. No errors, no freezing, no nothing. Thank you. The only other issue I have is my HDMI audio doesn't work. I installed the HDMI audio driver.. but no go. |

Ah yeah i didn't think to mention that. Not sure what the deal is with the the HD5xxx series, but no matter what driver I installed, it would fail the HDMI audio installation. I don't find that to be too big of a deal, there are other means of gaining audio output, but I do hope they fix it in the future. What you can try that others have found to work is using an HDMI to HDMI cord with an HDMI to DVI adapater on the end of it. I'll be moving to Pittsburgh area (closer to Ohio probably) sometime in the next few years. I don't drink but I'll take a green tea. |

This is true... I know you said that you already installed the drivers and such, but humor me. Go here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downlo...=3&downtypeid=3 Get the Win 7 64bit executable and the ATI HDMI audio device driver. Install both of those, restart your PC. Go into your device manager, see if it's listed and working. If it isn't, disable the HDMI device and re-enable it. Go to your audio settings, set the HDMI device as your default if it is listed under the hardware. Play with the volume settings for it and it might work. |

Woops steam browser decided to doublepost on me. It should still work, if not just change your default device each time you switch. Which part got it to work if you dont mind my asking? |

I went ahead and took your advice straight off. I uninstalled the HDMI audio driver that wasn't working, installed both files (rebooted in between), fiddled with the inputs a little (with HDMI and DVI both plugged in my desktop suddenly spanned both inputs.. it was funny) and presto! However, headset doesn't work. I have to switch back and forth.. I was hoping I could dedicate the headset input to only Skype or TS. |

If you would like the headset for Skype and Teamspeak, there are two different functions you should familiarize yourself with. All other audio (game/ingame chat) will come through whatever is coming out of your HDMI if that is how you have it set for Audio tab. If you go into Audio settings and Voice tab (if thats still in Win7) you'll be able to dedicate your headset as the default object for any voice programs. This can also be done ingame and in-program if you allow your headset the setting of programs can take exclusive control of it. Tinker around, youll get it. |

Ok, glad you seem to have everything working out for you for the most part. It's a wonderful card when the drivers actually work properly. Never had anything that couldnt run perfectly except when I tried to enable PhysX (an nVidia feature) on arkham asylum and it was like OH MY GOD NOOOO! But without that on it runs without a single hiccup. |
