Who ever said I was guessing? The problem is getting someone who doesn't know anything about computers to try and explain what their problem is. If I can look at it I usually pinpoint it and quickly know how to fix or find out.

Your going to have someone unfamiliar with PC's to download some 3rd party program they don't know about?

You and the Nigerian keyloggers have the same approach to things.

You won't believe me but I didnt mean anything personal by what I said, but I still stand by it. I don't do this as a freelance hobby; I do it 50+ hours a week in addition to building PCs, Servers, and DVRs; and the support that goes along with that.

I ALWAYS have a client on the phone when i'm poking around their computer through a remote help; simple courtesy goes a long way.

I've managed to help quite a few people out with issues via the forums or Xfire by sthings as simple as clear instruction and links.

Do something for me and I learn nothing.

Trying to solve people's problems by having them download 3rd party programs is just bad education and bad practice.

Rai is correct, if they don't do most of the work themselves, then they can't resolve the issue the next time it may or may not occur. :)

It's true, he's pretty damn helpful. He's been helping me with homework for like, 2 years. Phant and DSV too.

Yeah, it would be a bad idea to turn your computer over to another person on the net, if you have no physical contact with them, it's just too risky.
