-sigh- Well this nasty little bugger has found its way onto my computer. Sadly everything I try to do against it fails. I have looked all over the internet for solutions and everything seems to point back to one anti-virus software called Spyware Docter. I have it and no matter how many times I tell it to destroy the Trojan it always comes back. There is another Anti-Virus I could use to destroy it but sadly it wont run setup in safe mode (ill explain why this is needed in a minute) therefore rendering it useless for now. The Trojan isnt as bad as the one I had before i discovered Vundo being as it doesnt go after information but instead bombards my computer with pop-ups(fixed) and lags it to the point of i double click ANYTHING and at the least 5 minutes later it will open. I'll list all the information I have collected so far. Virus Name: Trojan.Vundo!sd6 Process that Triggers it: winlogon.exe File Attached to: C:\WINDOWS\system32\blmectyp.dll Effects: Slows Computer to the point of no use Now while running in Safe Mode the virus seems to remain dormant but the moment I return to normal mode it starts up again. I have tried everything I have found. Nothing seems to work against this. Luckily I can get Xfire up in Safe Mode. PLEASE help ASAP. I don't want to have to format my HD and buy another copy of XP. |

Don't you have an OEM copy? Or an official copy? Best thing to do for pesky virus' is a reformat and reinstall. |

Custom built PC? If It's HP or something to that effect, the CD-key should be on the Windows label on the tower... |

Pester him to boost the economy by purchasing a new machine. Or pay the $10 for the new code unless you have the old one written down somewhere... |

Sounds... smart... Well... Have you tried using system restore? Start: All Programs: Accessories: System Tools: System Recovery Set the PC back to a date prior to the time you got the virus. |

Noticing your lack of reply. This probably means my suggestion worked. Stop fudging around and get yourself AVG: http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Fr...4-10320142.html Make that your primary anti-virus program. Because whatever has been up until now... is an epic failure. Set it to run at start up or some obscene time in the morning. |

Actually my lack of response was because of my brilliant father who knows everything taking over and ruining EVERYTHING......ill try a SR tomorrow. i'm instaling both AVG and Windows Live OneCare. My neighbors use OneCare and from what I've seen it works perfectly |

For once I can help :P I already had that virus -_- it's ONE OF THE MOST annoying *&&?$%?$%? virus... Don't try to do a system recovery it won't help. Last thing you'll know is that the virus re-activated itself. Trust me on that. I already had it and did system recovery PLENTY of time. The first days you'll be all right but It will get back eventually. This virus is simple, It has a source. AND THAT SOURCE is where it all starts. Do you know why you use your normal anti-virus and it doesn't work? its cause the REAL virus is somewhere in your sys32 and can't be destroyed since hes patched to a sys32 files and its protected/restricted. So your anti-virus can't destroy it. your system won't allow it. and what this virus do basically is that it keeps copying itself and sending it all over your computer so let me guess, when you run your anti-virus, you succeed to catch and destroy the virus. BUT thats just a copy. the primary virus is well hidden in that sys32 file -__- So how to get rid of that bastard. Only way I found is that Why did it worked? cause it can go on sys32 files and hence get rid of it. Just dowmload it and It will probably works. It worked for me so why not for you? I remember when I used that tools. It caught 14 virus on my sys32!!!!!!!!! 14!!!!!!!!!!!!! after that it was ok. The virus was gone. don't worry tho this program takes a lot of time to scan since he scans EVERYTHING in your computer. |
