Had a bad virus, fixed it with Avast, but Firefox still is out of comission. I get this message: Proxy Server Refused Connection Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connection. The browser is configured to use a proxy server, but the proxy refused a connection. * Is the browser's proxy configuration correct? Check the settings and try again. * Does the proxy service allow connections from this network? * Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance. Any ideas? |

It's what I do. Most home users don't use proxy connections unless they are attempting to hide their surfing, or they are victims of spy/mal ware, or virus such as the conficker virus, etc... Only true way to know a virus is gone... DOD (Department of Defense) wipe the drive, often a 36 hour reformat changing all the 0's to 1's and then back to 0's and then randomizes it then gives you a fresh slate. I believe there is an express setting that does a randomization one pass and then gives you a clean slate. I'll find the name of the software for those interested. Just remember that things you 'delete' from your PC, are never truly gone until this has been done. =) |
