Usually comes from playing a game that renders using DirectX 9.0c or higher. His PC doesn't have enough virtual memory to properly dump the DirectX game when he goes to leave it and it crashes his graphics driver, and requires a PC reboot to play a game on OpenGL, which JKA uses to render. If he updates his drivers, it may fix the issue. He should also boost his virtual memory up to at least 2GB minimum with a 4GB maximum, and possibly get more actual RAM. Just tell him to restart his PC, and if that doesn't do it then to upgrade his drivers and take care of the memory issues. |

In that case it sounds like he has a bad driver install. He needs to first reseat his graphics card and make sure the terminals are alright, just as a precaution. After it's in, he needs to go into his drivers page and delete/uninstall the driver for his graphics adapter. Once it's uninstalled, reboot the PC. Things will be choppy and out of proportion then, but that means it has no driver. From there he needs to find the latest driver or his gfx card from the official website of the card and install it, then reboot the PC. Seeing as he had installed a new harddrive, he definitely needs to check his virtual memory as well. To do this: 1. Control Panel 2. System 3. Advanced System Settings 4. Advanced Tab 5. Under Performance, click Settings... 6. Advanced Tab 7. Under Virtual Memory, click Change... 8. Bubble in Custom Size 9. Under Minimum, fill in 2048 and under Maximum fill in 4096. 10 Reboot PC. This should solve his issue if he follows in these steps. |
