For one, that Smilodon case will keep everything extremely cold. I had one, it's fairly quiet with the stock fans but moves a ton of air. The flip down sides are amazing as well, especially when working on the mobo. The only problem with it I had was the docking arm. It was hitting my 8800GT. It didn't hurt it, but it bothered me that it was so close.

Let me say this, I love my 8800GT, so I was thinking of getting another one. But, I saw this:

9800GTX for $150.

With the 8800s and 9800s you can turn on all the eye candy and for any game. I ran Crysis on High settings all across the board, no lag or frame issues. The only thing preventing me from maxing the settings was it needed more than 512mb GPU RAM.

Go with Win XP Pro

Bump the machine to 4 GB RAM. ;)

Get a 1GB gfx card, if your system supports 2, then get the second card later. You'll be good to go for the next 5 years for $700

that 512MB 9800GT will be fine for as long as you plan to keep the system. (if the graphics start failing, add another one and SLi)

Besides, if I remember right, you only keep your systems for 2 years or so anyway =P

I agree though, bump that 2GB up to 4 GB or even 6 if it supports... RAM is so cheap right now ~$40 or less for 2GB

Windows XP Home supports a maximum of 3.5 GB RAM
Windows XP Pro supports a maximum of 4.0 GB RAM

I currently have XP Home with 4.0 GB RAM, it only recognizes 3.5 GB

I'll haft to last with this one until a miracle happens(when i can be arsed to do a summerjob). AMD 5200+, 2 gig ram and a 7950GT.

If it runs SC2 fine I'll be okay for another few years
