Ok, I am sick and tired of this 'Sendpacket Error' on JKA and similar errors on other games. So I have decided that because of this (and other things) I want to format my drive. Now, I have had two tutorials on how to format my computer. The first one is from a book called ''Windows XP for Dummies,'' and there was a page in there on how to ''Reformat a drive.'' It goes like this:
After following all thos above steps (I think I closed down everything anyway) the following message appeared: Posted Image The second tutorial on how to format my drive cam from Aries, he just said to open up My Computer, Right click on the Local Disk (C:) and to click format. This method came up with the same message. If you are going to reply to this topic then I expect a serious answer. Thanks in advance, and thanks for you previous help Aries. And I really could be doing with having this problem fixed. |

You have windows xp uh? ok you are supposed to have discs(me i have 6) these discs are all basic programs that you have when you first open your computer for the first time when you bought it. If you don't have those, you're in the trouble so try to search them. After gathering all cds(it can be a dvd-rom too, mine was cd-rom) put it in your computer and close it. Re-open it and it should ask you to format your hard-drive. do yes and it should work. |

Nah you don't need the drivers cd to format, just check your task manager to see if you have anything running from the hard drive in the background The other method would be using a bootable dos cd but it's rather advanced and beginners might screw up their computers. edit: I suspect you have windows on C:\ (duh lol :D) so you'll haft to find your windows xp cd/burn a new one. |

I must have pressed every button on that disk about 2 times each atleast, and I can't identify anything that even remotely leads to formatting it. I am starting to hate computers <_< |

You can't reformat your only Hard Drive while it's still running obviously. You have to use your windows installation disk. You have to get into BIOS settings(usually reboot and hold delete or F1) and select [Boot from CD-Rom] and then restart the PC. With the windows install CD inserted you'll see some options like "install a fresh copy of Windows" or something... and hopefully "Create new partition" or "Format Drive". That's the one to choose obviously, although you may have to choose to install windows again first... anyways it's easily cancelled as long as you don't confirm the installation. I'm not entirely sure which steps are needed for the formatting bit, but I am dead certain that's how you start off. You can't format while still running windows. |

But he didn't found his windows installation discs =X or maybe he did. Remember mydin, these discs are importants, so keep them somewhere you'll remember easily. It's always frustrating searching them when you wanna format and have no idea where they are. Happened to me once and I learnt the lesson :P So yea, If you find them, do what raik told you. |

Put in the Windows disk, turn off PC. Turn it on, press whatever Function (1-12) key it asks for Boot Menu. Select Boot from Disk (E: drive probably), and it will launch the Windows Disk. It will say that there is already a copy of Windows installed on this Partition, and will ask if you want to repair or re-install. Select to reinstall. If it asks you if you want to go into Destructive mode, say yes. That will completely wipe your harddrive and give a fresh install. After that, just follow through the Windows installation and such. If the disk does not contain your PC's drivers, and you do not have a Driver disk, then once you are finished installing then run Windows Update and select Custom mode. It will automatically find all digitally signed drivers needed for your PC to operate. Anything it doesn't find, you'll have to get yourself (GFX cards and such). Then finish updating your PC and you're done. Also: Your PC very well might have included a backup slave drive. Check your computer for a D: drive which is a System Restore drive. If it has one, look for the option System Recovery at PC startup and hit that function key. Then follow through destruction mode the same way and repeat the above steps. |
