Note: this is about tablets and elements, not elixirs and lucky powder Updated Aug 24th, 2010 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You’ve probably noticed that monsters you fight can drop different tablets. These tablets can be made into stones and used to enhance your items. Posted Image The tablet’s description shows what the specific tablet does and what item it affects. The tablets can be either ruby, jade or sapphire ones. Posted Image Ruby (pink) tablets can change the WHITE basic characteristics of an item. For example a 'Ruby tablet of Challenge' changes the weapon’s critical, while a 'Ruby tablet of Mind' changes the magical defense power on a protection item (such as armor). Jade (green) tablets can add a BLUE attribute to an item you possess, or if that attribute already exists on the item, it can change it. For example a 'Jade tablet of Str' adds a strength attribute to any item, while a 'Jade tablet of Fogs' adds ice resistance to jewellery. Sapphire (blue) tablets can be used to make a drug that increases your movement speed for half an hour. For example a 'Sapphire tablet of Breeze' increases you movement speed by 25%. The tablet you want to use has to be the same level as the item’s degree, as shown below. Posted Image To make a stone (or drug) from a tablet, read the description on the tablet to find out what elements you need. Posted Image The tablet on the picture above requires 46 earth elements of 3rd level, 110 water elements of 3rd level, and so on… To gain elements you have to collect alchemy items that monsters also drop. There are many different alchemy items, for example “brown hair”, “metal drop”, “tiger beard” etc. The alchemy item’s description shows the amount and level of elements the item gives. Posted Image In order to break the items into elements you need to buy some void rondo from the grocery trader in town (Jinjin in Jangan, Yosun in Donwhang, Mamoje in Hotan, Saha in Samarkand, Bajel in Constantinople). Open the alchemy window by pressing Y. Click on the tab "Disjoint" that has a hammer symbol. Place up to 8 different alchemy items in the 8 squares and press “Disjoint all slots”. You now have elements in your inventory. Posted Image When you have enough elements of the right level (as specified in the tablet’s description), open the alchemy window again by pressing Y. Now click the tab "Manufacture" which has a sun as its symbol. Place the tablet in the top square and the 4 different kinds of elements in the 4 open squares. Press “Manufacture”. You should now have a stone (or drug) in your inventory. If you’ve made a drug, you can use it right away and enjoy your extra speed. If you’ve made a stone, you need to fuse the stone with the item you want to enhance. Every item has a degree and the level of the stone (tablet) has to match the item’s degree. Also make sure that the stone can enhance the item type you have.
Posted Image Now several things can happen. 1) The alchemy fails, meaning the stone disappears and the item is left as it was before. 2) The alchemy works, and the attribute is added or changed according to the stone's description. The value of the attribute can become either higher or lower than before. 3) Attribute assimilation. There is a risk that another attribute OTHER THAN the specified one changes during the alchemy, sometimes to the better but mostly to the worse. This is called 'attribute assimilation' and it can happen regardless of success or failure. For example: you want to change the critical on a weapon, but the weapon's physical attack power is also changed. A manufactured stone can have 10%, 20% or 30% risk of assimilation with 10 being the lowest and 30 the highest risk. A stone that has dropped from a monster can also have 0%, 5% or 35% risk. Posted Image When is it worth enhancing items with alchemy? You shouldn’t waste time and gold on alchemy on lower levels, because you go through each level quickly and it’s not worth enhancing items you’re soon gonna replace. Also check the % after the value of the attribute you want to change. If the % is high it means the attribute is close to its maximum value and chances are the stone is only going to lower it. If the % is low the attribute is close to its minimum value and it’s likely the stone will increase it. Posted Image On this weapon it would be nice to try to increase the physical reinforce because it's at 0% of it's possible value, but the magical reinforce is good as it is. Finally, if you don’t feel like messing around with alchemy, you can still collect and break alchemy items, and then sell the elements. That, or you can donate them to me and Irish… :P |
