What the fuck is so special about Kane? I've been wondering this for quite some time, but the rumors that he beat up some ponce in Detroit even though he was nowhere near Detroit that night has led to more calls for another title reign. Really, what do you see in him? Is it that you haven't seen enough Vader? I want to know.

I was drawn to him back when I first got into Wrestling in 1999. At that time, I was 11 or 12, so he scared/interested me with his mask, cool attire, and the fact he talked with that vibrator thing. My markism increased in 2003 when he took off his mask. I lost interest in him from Armageddon onwards - shoulda won the title, but didn't :-/

He just had a very cool, mysterious gimmick, and moves that got over due to a combination of things: him knowing when to hold them back, his opponents' bumping, commentators' selling, and Undertaker getting them over first. Despite his many humiliations Jim Ross especially has always apportioned him a certain awe usually reserved for the Undertaker himself, which has helped immensely.

He's also helped by the fact none of his pushes lasted very long, so his fanbase is always filled with a righteous anger rather than the embarrassed disappointment of those who supported Paul Wight back in 1999. He probably should have got the title in 2003, when he was red fucking hot, had tons of heel heat, and was the axle the show revolved around, this being a time when the Raw main event was impossibly stale. Instead they had him sell like a motherfucker to Shane, of all people.

It's amazing how he usually gets cheered, even when he's meant to be a heel ( which I found hard to distinguish, until I was pointed out that heel kane = submission skillz) and there's always a couple of fans of his in pretty much every normal forum.

I liked him in the beginning. When he had a mask. I could only watch WCW, and the little I got from the WWF was via having a peek at their magazine and playing the videogames. And when I restarted watching wrestling a few years ago my interest dissappeared pretty quickly.

Yeah, I thought Kane was pretty fucking cool when he debuted, too. I missed 2003 because I was recovering from his last big push (Katie Vick). None of this answers why he's so fucking popular now though, when he has two moves and jobs to Kofi Kingston but gets into the Elimination Chamber match because he has Taker's cell phone number or some shit.

I liked him in the beginning also - thanks to a mysterious gimmick, a fuckawesome entrance and was, at that time, cool. Now? Don't dig him as much, but I appreciate him as a solid worker.

Well, I'm a fan of Kane, but I can't speak for everyone so I'll just give you my opinion.

My top wrestlers have always been Kane and Foley, because I am a big fan of wrestlers that work hard. They might not be the best wrestlers in the world, but they work their hardest to give the fans their dollars worth. Kane has always done that, no matter what, and that's a big positive at least where I sit.

Also, his psycho gimmicks were played very, very well, with him not giving a shit about anything (when he first lost his mask). And being very sadistic, which made him a very interesting character. Add that to the fact that he's managed to keep a career despite some of the worst storylines of all time, and I can't help but like the guy.

I appreciate his in-ring work, as well as his work ethic.

Hard worker and has always been business first. His gimmick was great and after they fucked up what could have been one of the best runs of all time, he rebounded and continued to be consistently solid. And him turning down being the one to end Taker's streak was what really sold it for me.

When has he worked hard?

Ric Flair, a man who used to wrestle a few hour matches a week, carry mediocre wrestlers to 40+ minute classics and carry whole battle royals by himself, is a hard worker. Kenta Kobashi, who spent years being the whipping boy for teams going up against the likes of Toshiaki Kawada, the hardest hitter in puro, only to be promoted to getting the fuck knocked out of him in main events, is a hard worker. Akira Hokuto, who worked through a broken neck, is a hard worker. You could even make a case for someone like Mikey Whipwreck, a guy who spent years getting squashed in the early-Kobashi gimmick, was a hard worker. Shawn Michaels, who bumps like a motherfucker for just about anyone, is a hard worker.

Kane? Waddling around the ring slapping people in the throat so they bounce like ping pong balls for you is not working hard. For years he didn't even sell. Come on, guys.

Liked him when he first appeared as he was terrifying. Not really bothered with him since.

He has remained loyal to WWE, he appears to be a well respected guy and he beat the shit out of Tim Sylvia form hundreds of miles away. HoF material surely.

Kane may not be the best worker by any stretch, but he's made himself at least watchable. That's what I mean when I say hard worker. I mean, people like Khali and Big Show just rely on the fact that they're huge. Kane's matches vary from watchable to very very good.

Plus he plays his psycho gimmick to a tee, and its good to see people that have a dedication to entertainment, and being their character.

Also, the man was involved in a necrophilia angle, you can't help but feel for the guy...

He's been in the WWF/E for what, 14 years, and had about five or six "very, very good" singles matches (not as many as Big Show). In fact, I can only think of vs Bret, vs Angle and maybe vs Benoit off the top of my head, and it's not like he carried them is it? Perhaps you could help me think of some more, Joker?

Okay, maybe very very good was a bit strong. But I was entertained by his series with Matt Hardy, Edge, and even Shane McMahon (just for how sadistic he was). They might not have all been 5 star puro classics, but they entertained me, which made them good in my book.

I'm surprised you said the Shane McMahon series, because that was the final nail in Kane's coffin. Not only were the matches shit, Shane came out of them looking tougher than anything on the face of the earth whilst Kane looked like a bitch. By the time WrestleMania rolled around he was ready to be near-squashed by the Undertaker.

What Edge and Matt matches were you thinking of specifically? Because all the ones I saw were dreadful. Kane and Edge don't have an iota of chemistry.

Kane's best match is the one where he chain wrestled with the Big Show.
