His left pectoral muscle. This won't be good for ratings obviously. Maybe because of this we'll finally see someone else step up. It's a change of sorts. |

Well as far as I can see the WWE Champion will be one of these four people: Jeffrey Hardy - Now, this isnt because Im a huge fan. I actually have some thought to back my opinion. Hes been doing house shows with Cena the past month, and like I stated, is a precursor for TV. Definately a merchandise seller, and if WWE were not keen to have him carry the company - why hire him back, make him a 2x intercontinental champ {since returning} and a 1x tag team champ? Surely the man is over enough to appeal to the majority of the audience. Transitional champion or not - the WWE is in a state right now to try jeff as a main event player. Imagine the moneymaking feuds and the entertaining aspects of them Jeff vs HHH; Jeff vs HBK {ladder match anyone?}; Jeff vs Cena; Jeff vs Orton etc. I say WWE, the time is NOW. Jeff has been on every PPV {bar summerslam} since returning - but hes the intercontinental champion - not booked on this PPV - could it be Jeff vs Orton?..... Ken Kennedy - Now, I know there is 50/50 hate for this man. He has no gimmick. His entrance is stale - however, I cant help to notice people in the crowd wearing Kennedy t-shirts. This, plus the fact he was scheduled twice for a main event push - "TBA vs Orton" may be "Kennedy vs Orton." This could be the push he needs - by default none the less. Keep in mind its the A brand -so who would he feud with? Heel vs Heel {orton} could not work as we all know WWEs face/heel feud they like to do. However, there could be one man.......which leads to.... HHH - HHH/Orton has been done before, yes. But this time the roles have changed. HHH - face, Orton - Heel. It would be interesting to see if they do indeed go down this route. Many, including I, say HHH is getting old, more boring and dare I say past his prime. I, like a lot of you are sick of HHH and have been ever since late 2002, with his constant attempt to keep the title on himself - however, it has been 3 years now so is he due? Yes. The man can still draw, and pretty much all RAW has now for viewers to tune in. If his feud with McMahon didnt come at a worse time Id say he is a shoe in for Sunday. I think Mcmahon might be thinking this too - as he is the only man to pull it off safely, having been champ in the attitude era and beyond, he has pulled in ratings. Val Venis - Kinda as a joke [although tis no joke to you AWTers}. But seriously....when does WWE take notice of their polls of their site - never! Of course, this is if they dont just randomly draft someone from SD! {no-one on ECW will win}. If Orton wins - it will no doubt be the let down of the year as the man is not capable of carrying a show - be it the A show or not. |

In all honesty, I think ratings will improve. Sadly, this will result in countless posters trying to look intelligent and claiming that an increase in ratings is evidence that Cena isn’t a draw… Of course, ratings are a very small piece of the puzzle. Business-wise, the difference between a 3.0 and a 4.0 is minimal. If WWE did a year of 3.0’s and a year of 4.0’s, the difference in revenue would be one or two million dollars, if that. Cena’s merchandise sales are likely to be in the region of $30 million a year, if not more, and that’s where the loss comes in. For WWE to counter such a loss, they’d need to draw ratings in the region of 15.0 and above - every week.
Orton will probably be the next champion. I don’t care much for him, but he’s the baddest man in the land right now. My money is on Orton vs. Hardy vs. Kennedy, maybe with Jericho thrown in the mix, too. If I’m right, people better bow the fuck down. |

That's what I expect to take place, as well (minus Jericho, of course). And even though Orton is the likely candidate to take possession of the gold, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see Hardy walk out of Rosemont as a double Champion (provided he doesn't drop the IC belt in some impromptu, last second match to beef up the card) . . . |

Shit, Matt, we never thought of that. It's a good job we've got a little genius like you to point out our flaws. I can't speak for anyone else, but I feel really silly now.

Hardy winning is a definite possibility. The way I see it, Orton is a lock to be included in this match, it’s just a question of who’ll face him? I can’t see Jericho coming back and losing, but I don’t see him winning. Shock factor aside, giving the belt to a man who left because he disliked the schedule and lost his passion for the business is stupid booking - and risky. Maybe Jericho will cope with the schedule, maybe he’ll regain his passion, but there is no way of knowing this until at least several weeks down the line… Kennedy is a likely opponent, simply because he should be on the card and hasn’t already been booked in a match. Problem is, WWE is unlikely to book a heel vs. heel match, especially when they could simply add Faggy McFagfag to the equation. Hardy, like Kennedy, should be on the card but isn’t. WWE are extremely lucky. Orton vs. Hardy vs. Kennedy is perfect. Since the new champion won’t be defeating Cena, defeating two opponents is a must. None of them are booked in other matches, all of them are credible challengers - Orton was feuding with Cena, Hardy was facing Cena for the belt at house shows and Kennedy is on the verge of making it big. If Cena’s injury was a storyline, this is pretty much exactly how it’d be scripted… Hardy beating two bad-ass heels would give him an almighty rub, and he doesn’t necessarily need it - he’s already loved by the crowd, he is a bigger draw than Orton and Kennedy. He is a good replacement for Cena. Plus, WWE will almost certainly want to send the crowd home happy, probably ruling out a heel win. |
