Have they removed the poll? Seeing Val in the main event would be great but the best choice for a new champion would be:

Put him against Randy Orton at No Mercy, but if he isnt returning, Triple H is the next best thing

If his previous reign was anything to go by, Jericho would make an awful champion.

They might as well give it to Hunter. It’s bound to happen sooner or later, but at least he’s a face right now - Hunter as heel champion has been done to fucking death and then some.

I hope Cena would be back in time for Mania. I know he will. It's basically half a year away

They claim he’ll be out for six to twelve months, but that strikes me as a fairly wide margin for what must be a fairly straightforward injury. Surely the doctor can be a little more specific than “six to twelve”?

Didn’t Edge suffer a similar injury in July? He’s due back at the Survivor Series. That’s four months. I realise there are likely to be different levels of severity, but when Edge was injured, they said he’d be out until November; there was no six month window. Similarly, when Triple H was injured in January, we knew he’d be back in August. With Cena, it could be anytime between April and October. Something doesn’t add up.

If he’s out for six months, that pretty much means the night after WrestleMania or the following week. They will no doubt want him on the WrestleMania card.

Despite the huge loss in merchandise, this could well be a blessing in disguise for the fed in much the same way Austin's injury in '99 blessed them in ways they could never have imagined. Granted, they don't have a tour de force like what they had with the Rock in 2000 or even a face as lovable and as sympathetic as Foley to carry the baggage before that stars assent to top face, but perhaps now the time calls for them to shine that light onto someone other than Cena. In Austin's absence, the WWE had a stellar year both in ring and in storylines and this loss may well force the fed to try much harder than they have been of late to conjure up intriguing material, or at least we can hope.

Personally, I see this as a golden opportunity for the fed and some fortunate talent who are ready to take the bull by the horns and run with this golden opportunity. Whether the WWE and or the prospective star take that chance is another matter altogether, however. We'll see, but I'm genuinely excited in the possibilities of WWE programing for the first time in a long while.

So Cena's out. For a while. Not gonna be champ...

Thank Chtulu, I knew you'd respond to my sacrifices.

They might as well not give it to Hunter. He is insanely awful right now as face. Jericho would be a superb choice to replace Cena on Sunday, it is fresh, instantly fills some of the void left and immediately opens a window for a Jericho/Orton feud. It would please the PPV audience; Hunter coming out to a self-absorbed entrance and winning would be like putting your cock inside a meat grinder.

I was going to start studying a bit for uni right now, but fuck that, I'm gonna vote for Val all night long.

OK, so that doesn't mean he'll get a spot in the main event... but we got a Stevie~! cameo after coming in 2nd in that other poll! I'd be happy with that...

Ugh, Val has dropped 0.11% these last few minutes... and Mr. Kennedy has risen like 0.11%

I really don't see an easy way out. They look stuck between:

Giving it to a habitual troublemaker who just got busted in operation Raw Deal

Give it to the greatest being ever to step inside the ropes, who's done nothing but tell jokes and flex for the crowd this year

Give it a robust polynesian fellow who's just coming back from a suspension from the aforementioned Raw Deal, try and make the crowd forget his owning at the hands of Triple H, and make him the Vader of the new millenium

Give it to a guy who was seen as so potentially fruitful that Vince lent him his middle name, and has gone steadily downhill since then.

Expedite the return of an entertaining wrestler turned failed rockstar, convince him that he doesn't mind the schedule, and hand it to him.

Listen to a faceless mob of internet geeks and give it to a jobber (albeit a tenured and popular one)

Give it to Faggy McFagfag

Or bring in a temp from the b show.

Like you said, it’s a question of whether WWE take advantage of the opportunity. Hopefully they will do, but I can see the company looking to established names.

For example - why push Faggy McFagfag, a superstar with a history of personal demons and who recently returned from a suspension, when you know Triple H is a bigger name, has a bigger fanbase and is a bigger draw? Granted, Hardy is younger, but will it matter in the long-term? Cena will be back by this time next year, so is it relevent? And right now, in the aftermath of the Benoit tragedy, with buyrates and ratings showing a decline, do you take a risk which may or may not pay-off or opt to play it safe?

If Jericho is in shape, has somehow managed to avoid picking up any ring-rust over the last two years and has genuinely rediscovered his passion for the business, then he’d make a decent choice for champion.

Personally, I’d rather wait and see, because a lame Jericho offers nothing.

Face Hunter obviously has his flaws, but he also has a great deal of momentum right now. The crowd respond to him and have been waiting for him to reclaim his position in the company for quite some time.

Chanting won't help this time, Of. Val will continue to "wait dreaming". WWE wouldn't go with it.

Could Val ever get a serious push does anyone think? Like would he get over?

Val is a prime example of a wrestler who was in the right place at the wrong time. Had he emerged just before or just after the Attitude era, his career might’ve been different. Instead, he came along at a time when Stone Cold was at his peak, when The Rock, HHH and Ken Shamrock looked like great prospects for the future of the industry and when the likes of the Undertaker and Mankind were tearing shit up. Val wasn’t needed, despite having the look, the mic skills and being a fairly solid worker.

There’s no reason why he couldn’t get over with the crowd - he’s better than most of the current roster. Will he get the opportunity? Sadly, I doubt it. He’s been in the mid-card for a long time, his transition from a nobody to a top-level superstar might not seem plausible, at least in the eyes of management.
