************************************************************** Details are still sketchy but the word coming from backstage at the Raw taping is that WWE champion John Cena is believed to have suffered a torn right pectoral muscle during his main event match against Ken Kennedy. He is tentatively scheduled to undergo a MRI tomorrow to examine the severity of the injury. I don't have to tell anyone reading this what a major blow this would be to the entire company if Cena needs to be out for any extended period of time. The injury appeared to happen during a botched hiptoss on Kennedy that ended awkwardly with Kennedy landing atop Cena. Cena then nailed an armdrag. The two ended up in the corner, which led to a clean break. Cena backed up to the opposite corner and was obviously favoring his arm immediately. Cena gutted through the match and post-bout angle with Randy Orton, where he was laid out following a RKO on the announcer's table. Cena is scheduled to main event the No Mercy PPV this Sunday in Chicago, Illinois against Orton in a Last Man Standing Man. ********************************************* Source- Pwinsider. |

Damn. Hopefully not as serious as it sounds. This would be a major loss for WWE, the biggest of its kind since Stone Cold was injured in ‘99... Like him or not, Cena has been a one man boom period. Television ratings are down, buyrates are down, yet the last three years have been amongst the most successful - business wise - in WWE history. Why don’t WWE give a fuck about 3.3 RAW ratings or buyrates of 195,000? Because Cena will make that money back, and far more, on merchandise sales. He is the difference between success and failure for WWE and, without him, the company is fucked. How long would one expect to be sidelined with a torn right pec? |

It's the same injury that's kept Edge out since the Summertime. Recovery time depends almost entirely on whether or not he'll require surgery. If it's just a sprain or partial tear, it could be like a month or something, but if he does go under the knife, probably at least until the Royal Rumble. |

As much as I despise Cena, the effects are this are going to be a major hit for the company. When would be the best time that Cena would have to undergo surgery? |

I guess Cena will lose the belt to the bag-shitter after all.

It all depends on the severity of the injury. Unless he requires immediate surgery, he’ll probably work No Mercy. Serious or not, I honestly can’t imagine him competing in a Hell in a Cell match at Cyber Sunday with a torn pectoral… Under normal circumstances, it’d be a simple matter of Cena losing the belt at No Mercy and then taking time off to heal and undergo surgery. However, when it comes to Cena, normal circumstances don’t apply: In accordance with traditional booking, the ending of RAW indicates his victory at No Mercy and, from a storyline and character perspective, this must happen. First Orton kicked the shit out of Cena’s dad, and then kicked the shit out of Cena. If Orton then takes the belt and sidelines him for several months in the process, it looks terrible. Really not how you’d book your top star. I can see Cena forfeiting the belt next week on RAW. |

The way I see it, not a bad break, WWE's fault. Normally, one has at least 4 other legit main eventers ready if one gets injured. WWE's done a horrible job promoting anyone other than Cena, thus bag-shitter actually appears to be the top star on RAW. The only other who could legitimately carry the belt are HHH and Keh-neh-deh. |

He's went all this time without getting injured. It had to happen sooner or later. |

Thats a good point, all other big names have been injured so i suppose it had to happen at some stage. He has done well to not get injured in the 3 years he has been at the top. |

Is this for real? I just watched Raw and I think I heard J.R. say "Cena can't afford to get injured" right before the match started... |

He did say that, but if it was a fabrication, it would probably make more sense for WWE to claim Orton had done it in the attack instead of during the match with Kennedy. |
