IMO, Tha Trademarc has a legitimate claim to being more awesome than any other rapper around today.

The r&b of yesteryear was better than today'by a factor of roughly infiniti.

I agree with you 100%.

Even if you don't want to include musicians from the glory days, Robin Thicke, Van Hunt, the aforementioned Hamilton and about a dozen others are all miles ahad of Usher in the quality of their music.

I agree, that they are way better. I was just making a point that R&B has changed since yesteryear, and to compare the two isn't really fair.

As for Timberlake's latest release, it's nothing but mildly amusing, yet still manages to be much more creative and abitious than any of Usher's work.

Thats just it, Timberlake is more creative, but that is not a good thing. He expiermented to much in FS/LS, and some of it succedded, but their where a lot of flops and some songs were ruined by his creativeness. Usher kept everything smooth, his slow jams were decent, while his creativness in bringing R&B and southern crunk together worked with his song Yea.

Quote:

It had it's bombs for sure, but it's high points easily move it past such generic hit as "let it burn" and "confesions".

No way. Timberlake tried to shoot for to many club tracks, while Usher, rightfully so only had 1, in Yeah. Out of the 3 singles, only one I would say wasn't bad, and that was What goes around. Yeah, Burn, Confessions Part 2, My Boo, and Caught Up all surpass any of Timberlakes singles. Although I might put What Goes Around ahead of Burn, and maybe Caught up.

pffftttt. was hard to tell. he said in every and any capacity. Sounded too broad to just relate to talent.

Shut the fuck up you mongoloid. Don't you have some Jeff Hardy matches to jack off to, or something?

And here I was thinking that I'd cop something from Donnie for my somewhat ignorant post about rap...

JJJ, care to explain your opinion about the Tradmerc being more awesome than any other rapper today?

If I could, then believe me, I would. That wouldn't, & doesn't take away from the fact that matt is twat, though, so, yeah. And I'm not the only one who thinks so, nor am I the first to strike back, so don't try to single me out; K?

So I just heard that 50 Cent recorded a track dissing Lil' Wayne.  I'm in the process of reading some of the lyrics right now, but this shit just reeks of desparation (what with 50 dropping his next album on the 11th of September).  I've got a feeling it's been released as a way to hype the project more than convey his thoughts on the man, seeing as how it really came out of nowhere, but we'll see.

Either way, I can't wait for Weezy's response.  In terms of a lyrical competition/war of words, Wayne is nearly untouchable; and I have the utmost confidence that he's gonna' rape the living shit out of Jackson when it's all said & done.

LONG LIVE BEEF-INSPIRED RECORDS~!

And whilst we're on the topic; what are some of your favorite diss songs?  Mine are as follows:

- "Hail Mary 2003" by Eminem, 50 Cent & Busta Rhymes (Diss to Ja Rule & Murder, Inc.)
- "300 Bars & Runnin'" by The Game (Diss to 50 Cent & G-Unit)
- "Ether" by Nas (Diss to Jay-Z)
- "Hit Em Up" by 2Pac Shakur (Diss to The Notorious B.I.G. & Bad Boy Entertainment)
- "King Of The Hill" by Ice Cube & Mack-10 (Diss to Cypress Hill)

I agree with you. I have always been a Lil Wyane fan from the start, and I am curious to see what his response is.

Hit Em Up probably is #1 on my list.

Another one I would add to your great list is "The Bridge Is Over" by BDP. Damn, that was good. Also Ice Cubes diss of the NWA in his song "No Vaseline". I also thought "Takeover" by Jay-Z is good, as was his radio freestyle "Super Ugly". But Ether just overshadows those by a lot.

The Bridge is Over is fantastic, poor MC Shan. Throw in The Bitch in Yoo by Common, actually you might as well throw in I Used to Love H.E.R. not directed to anyone in particular but rap as a whole and it did kind of lay the grounds for The Bitch in Yoo. Funny, because Ice Cube's song didn't even come close to it and it's not like Common normally puts out that sort of song. Also, Drop a Gem on 'Em by Mobb Deep, unfortunate that is was released after Tupac's death, but it still deserves far more attention.

I forgot about The Bitch In Yoo, MC. Thanks for the addition.

As far as those other songs are concerned, however, I haven't heard enough of them to comment (only bits & pieces).

The documentary entitled Beef is the perfect way to learn about/discover hip-hop feuds, and the diss tracks that come out of them. Anyone seen it (or any of the 3 parts)?

I haven't. But now I'd like to.

Someone chuck it up on the Non-Wrestling Media thread, this sounds interesting...
