No, he's not a shell of his former self; he's just matured (both mentally & emotionally) since then, due to all the shit he's had to deal with upon becoming such a huge mega-success. The industry changes people in ways that they have no control over . . . And as fas as throwing his creative back out is concerned, fuck off. He's even more creative now than he's ever been, due to mastering the art of production (not only for himself, but for other established artists, as well). The Eminem Show is proof positive of that fact, regardless of personal opinion.
Oops; sorry about that. Didn't mean to include Cube in that post. CUT & PASTE MISHAP~! |

I've never really been too fond of ODB, to be honest. Always thought of him as more shock value than actual talent, but I digress. I'm not gonna' hate on you for liking him, because it's all about personal preference, but . . . that's just the way I feel. As far as Ghostface is concerned, though; you're right. I have no excuse for that. It will be rectified post haste . . . |

Odd...that's what I always thought about Meth. That could be because of Redman though. Method was much better before he was infatuated with letting his friends ruin his albums. |

Method Man is much better on his own, Mr. Morton. I don't even really acknowledge Redman's existence, because you're right; all he does is drag the man down. And it's not even like Red doesn't have any talent, either, but some people just don't mesh well together . . . They were great together in How High, though. |

Wasn't much for How High...even at a period when I was way into dumb stoner comedies. Ben Franklin kicked ass though. My list is mainly from the perspective that I've only listened to rap for a few years with anything more than a passing interest. Randomly picking up "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back" changed that a lot. Before that, I used to like Slim Shady, if only because he was from Detroit and was doing things I'd never heard before, but he got boring midway through album #2. I forget what one that was...never really been encouraged to check his shit out after the fact, either. I haven't really given much notice to Method's stuff before rap took MTV over, and I was less than impressed with his stuff in comparison to pre-flame out DMX and the Ruff Ryda's. Wu-Tang is brilliance though, and I hear that his first post-36 Chambers solo effort is as close to perfect as one gets. Tu-Pac isn't on my list because I still haven't given him much time. My mom was a huge Notorious fan though, and has told me of her drunken exploits at a concert of his where she was the only white woman for miles. I think rap kinda died after 96 though, with a few exceptions (Outkast, 2001, etc.) |

With Eminem, you either love him or hate him. There is no inbetween. I'm a fan from the perspective that I can relate with most of the things that he talks about in his more serious songs. Some of that has to do with what you said, in that he was doing things that I had never heard before, but it really has more to do with the fact that I connect with him, and can sympathize with his situation. I really do believe him to be one of the best lyricists of our generation, though, and The Eminem Show is truly his best effort in terms of quality of those lyrics. If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend doing so at least once, if for no other reason than to gain a different perspective about him, and what he's done for the industry. My opinion of Method Man is based off early Wu-Tang, and that post-36 Chambers solo album. I'm not gonna' say he's maintained consistency since then, but he's still a quality artist who can, and does have the potential to bring it at any point in time. His relationship with Redman has hurt him somewhat, but you can't blame the man for wanting to be close to his friends, so it's all good by me. And as far as 2Pac is concerned, you really should give more of a chance. The man is more of a poet than a gangsta rapper, and is highly regarded as one of the most influential rappers of all-time. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't been influenced by the man in at least some way, which speaks volumes as to how much of an impact he had on not only rap music, but the development of the culture as a whole. All Eyez On Me is a classic album, and contains some of his best available work. Oh, and one more thing; your mom is the coolest woman EVAR~!

I've never heard enough about them that would make me want to check them out. That's all, MC. If you've got some specific songs of theirs that you would recommend checking out, then by all means list away . . . Also; you forgot Lupe Fiasco. Lupe is going to be the next Nas, someday; mark my words. |

That is a good list. Eric B. and Rakeem are a terrific duo, and I have no idea why I didn't put either on my list. Probably because it was off the top of my head. KRS-One is also fantastic. |

I don't consider Jay-z and Diddy rappers anymore, they just got on the money train, and said forget music. Altough I am fond of Dirt Off Ya Shoulder, and Bad Boy 4 Life (if only because the first time I ever freestyled it was to that beat). Twista is only on my list for pure speed. That makes him somewhat unique in my book. What do you have against 50 Cent and Kanye West? |

50 has totally phoned everything in that he's done after Get Rich Or Die Tryin'. That, and he tried to take credit for The Game's success, then kicked the guy off his record label when he was about to eclipse his popularity. He's also not a very good rapper; and in short, he's a bitch. Kanye West thinks too highly of himself, and should really stick to producing other people's music due to his mediocre rapping skills . . . |

Fair enough about 50. But as far as Kanye goes, doesn't every good rapper have a bit of an ego? And on a completly unrelated topic to anything so far, do all these Peyton Manning commercials annoy anyone else? Also John McGinnley pwns everything ever. |
