DDP/Goldberg would possibly make it if the list was top 75. People shit on Page because the WCW tried to push him so high and he just wasn't popular enough with the crowd, but the man was able to put on a few decent matches. With Goldberg, as well as Randy Savage, Benoit, and Raven are the ones that come to mind now.

And yes, you'll see a lot of cruiserweight matches on my list on behalf of WCW.

Regal/Ultimo Dragon from PPV too, that is great. Malenko/Rey from Starrcade '96 is it? Liger/Rey too.

There's lots of good stuff on Thunder from '98, like Jericho/Eddie vs. Malenko/Benoit tags and stuff.

Bret/Booker is also gold.

We need a new forum section for projects. Its about time we did something like this.

If this refers to the Monday Night Wars then I refuse to awknowledge ECW. That crappy indy fed has no place here as we all know ECW sucked dick anyway. If we did include it the likely hood is only a couple of matches would even crack the list.

4. Bret '' The Hitman'' Hart vs Stone Cold Steve Austin , Survivor Series 1996
5. Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker , In Your House 18

Others
Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Psychosis , WCW Bash at the Beach 1996
Bret Hart vs Diesel , Survivor Series 1995
Diesel vs Shawn Michaels , In Your House 7

Bret vs. Shawn Michaels , Wrestlemania 12
Bret Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith , In Your House 5
Ultimo Dragon vs. Rey Misterio, Jr. WCW World War III , 1996
Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels vs. Davey Boy Smith and Owen Hart , Raw, 05/26/97
The Rock vs. Mankind , Royal Rumble 1998

That KOTR '96 match will be high on my list.

I think we should save doing lists here until we get a new forum opened for this, then sort nominations out into years.

Sounds like a good project. I'm in.

Currently, after exhausting the match for all it's worth recently, I have Michaels/Ramon Summerslam '95 top. I do, however, tend to rate HIAC higher on the lists I produce, so watching that match again will no doubt force my hand. We'll see.

Razor vs Shawn is ineligable due to the dates or I would have included that.

I read the start date wrong; being British I read it as the 9th of April as opposed to the 4th of September it pertained to.

Well that scuppers the top of my list...

I'd be in favour of leaving ECW out to be honest, as the battle for ratings didn't include them. They were not in the same league.

I personally don't rate Mr spot monkey good enough to crack the list but that may just be me. If we were including ECW it is more Awesome/Tanaka I would be taking a look at.

Except I don't think an Awesome/Tanaka match ever lasted longer than 12 minutes.

That's why I said maybe. If they were included, it'd be from the period that they had a show on major network TV, and hardly anything they during that period would qualify.

And yeah, it'd be run kinda like Smarkschoice, only without "OMG, will Benoit's death make people want to quit" foolishness.

The number of awesome WWF main events is up there, but I fully expect Benoit, the cruiserweights, and DDP's one and a half years of glory to somehow carry WCW to an even keel.

There'll be plenty of uploads. Trust me.

While I'm at it, I'm stunned that nobody has mentioned Rey vs. Jushin from Starrcade 96. It's often talked about as being one of the greatest opening matches of all time.

I'll be curious to see if anything from B shows like Saturday Night, Worldwide, Shotgun and HeAT will crack anybody's list.

Just because he is a spot monkey doesn't mean he can't have good matches. All of those matches Nascar came up with are good. I would add to that:

Raven/Richards vs. The Pitbulls – Gangsters Paradise (9/16/95 - 2/3 Falls Double Dog Collar, Tag Titles)

Chris Benoit vs. Al Snow - Double Tables (4/2/95)

Sasuke/Hamada/Yakushiji vs. Togo/Teioh/TAKA - Barely Legal (13/4/97)

Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko (26/8/95 2/3 Falls)

Scorpio vs. C. Jericho vs. Pitbull #2 vs. S. Douglas – Heatwave ‘96 (15/7/96 TV Title)

2 Cold Scorpio vs. Sabu – CyberSlam‘96 (2/17/96)

Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko – H. C. Showdown ’95 (15/4/95 TV Title)

Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Psicosis (7/10/95 2/3 falls)

Cactus Jack /Raven vs. Tommy Dreamer/Terry Funk – NTR ’95 (18/11/95)

Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Juventud Guerrera – Big Ass Extreme (9/3/96 2/3 falls)

Masato Tanaka vs. Mike Awesome - Heatwave ‘98 (2/8/98)

Sabu/Rob Van Dam vs. Eliminators – NTR ’96 (16/11/96)

Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn - Hardcore Heaven '99 (16/5/99 TV Title)

Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Juventud Guerrera - Big Apple Blizzard Blast (3/2/96)

Sasuke/Hamada/Naniwa v. Togo/ Teioh/Taka

Chirs Benoit/Dean Malenko vs Taz/Sabu – Return of the Funker ( Tag Title)

Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko - Enter Sandman (13/5/95 TV Title)

2 Cold Scorpio vs. Eddie Guerrero - Three Way Dance (8/4/95)

Mike Awesome vs. Masato Tanaka TNN (31/12/99 World Title)

Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn - TNN (10/9/99)

Rob Van Dam vs. Bam Bam Bigelow (4/4/98 TV Title)

Lance Storm vs. Jerry Lynn – Anarchy Rulz (19/9/99)

Terry Funk vs. Sabu vs. Shane Douglas – The Night The Line Was Crossed (5/2/94)

I mentioned Liger/Rey.

Saturday Night > Shotgun & Heat for werkrate~1.

I guarantee not all that much of the cruiserweight stuff will stand the test of time. There's some good stuff but a lot is just sprints full of moves thrown out one after the other.

A fair few of those wouldn't make it, due to them being before Memoiral Day, '95. And there's a few matches that you're being fairly leniant on. As entertaining as Tanaka vs. Awesome on TNN was, it was only eight minutes of swinging chairs and powerbombs...not much in the way of a match.

Raven/Richards vs. Pitbulls would probably be #1 on my list of best ECW "style" matches, as everything seemed to happen for a reason, and it's a rare tag match that didn't end with a B.S. run in from the Samoan Gangster Party, the Gangstas, Public Enemy, or the Bruise Brothers.

That list was mainly me showing ECW did have good matches when they were around. There is some real gems from around 95 - 98 and that it wasn't all blood, weapons and the Sandman.

Yeah, I agree...I'm still a bit leery on their ECW on TNN period, which would be their strongest argument for entry into the list, because it's when they were "actively" a part of the War. I don't think they'd have anything that cracks my top 100. Lynn vs. RVD, maybe.
