David Goyer May Not Be Doing THE FLASH... But Is He Making A Green Arrow Movie?!

Hey, everyone. ”Moriarty” here.

I’ve got an longer piece about David Goyer that will be up tomorrow, but for now, we’ve got this news tidbit that I find really fascinating. This is probably one of the cooler superhero projects I’ve heard about anyone setting up recently, and if he pulls this off, this is a movie I’m really excited to see:

Hello, Harry and Moriarty! My name's Sean Collins, and I'm the managing editor of Wizard magazine. My buddy Mike Cotton appears to have broken the news of "Batman Begins" screenwriter David Goyer's next project: "Super Max," a film in which a wrongly convicted Green Arrow gets sent to a prison housing a plethora of DC supervillains.

Here’s the original story. Neat, no?

Take care!
Sean

is that or is that not the coolest sounding comic film out there?

That could be so awesome and Green Arrow is definitely the perfect hero for the storyline. The casting should be interesting, if it happens.

Laurence Fishburne is The Silver Surfer
Date : April 19, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris

Laurence Fishburne, an actor with one of the most recognizable voices in Hollywood, will voice the character of ‘The Silver Surfer’ in FOX’s “Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer”.

A couple of other sites had previously erroneously reported that Fishburne (“The Matrix”) was supplying the voice of ‘Galactus’ but the studio hasn't decided whether Galactus will even speak. Silver Surfer, who rides his surfboard through space, is the herald for the planet-destroying Galactus.

Black Surfer, lol

Newbie writing Green Arrow movie
Date : April 19, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris

Filmmaker David Goyer tells Sci-Fi Wire that a newcomer, Justin Marks, 22, has been picked to scribe the director’s forthcoming Green Arrow movie “Super Max”.

"My wife found Justin," Goyer said. "She's the producer, and she just said, 'I read this kid's spec script. He's really talented. You should meet with him.' And I met with him, and I thought he was really talented. And we just said, 'Let's find something to do together.' ... I love finding new people out of nowhere. I love working with young talent, whether it be actors or writers."

“Super Max” centers on the DC Comics hero Green Arrow, who is incarcerated in a special prison alongside a group of villains he previously captured.

My money’s on Ryan Reynolds being asked to play the Green guy.

Fuck, GOyer is a fucking ood writer, he should do it himself.

Prison Break star takes on Batman
Date : April 20, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris

One of the best actors on TV right now, “Prison Break” star William Fichtner, has joined the cast of Warner’s uber-expensive “Batman Begins” follow-up, “The Dark Knight”.

According to Batman On Film, Fichtner – whose film credits include "Armageddon" and "First Snow" – will play a bank manager in the super sequel.

I assume Fichtner's going to have 'something to do' in the sequel as opposed to just playing 'guy dressed as bank manager' - it'd be a waste otherwise - but that's all there is at this time.

That fucking pillpoper

The Incredible Grey Hulk?
Date : April 21, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris

Seems Edward Norton won’t be turning “green” after all – well, not in the classic sense anyway. Collider talked to Avi Arad who revealed that, in the upcoming “Incredible Hulk”, our monstrous male protagonist would actually be ‘grey’.

“It's a new Hulk, new direction, new size, new color, new attitude”, says Arad. ”Anything that was done before is not in this movie. It's a very different kind of Hulk. It's more of a love story; it's more of a heroic Hulk. It's a kind of Hulk we loved in the show, so it's kind of more influenced by the show than anything else. It's very human, very touching, and huge action. Louis Leterrier has a unique filming style that will be great here and it’s going to be spectacular.”

Speaking of all things ‘Hulk’, ‘Advanced Dark’ points us in the direction of the Hollywood Grind who states that Jessica Biel (who starred in Marvel’s “Blade Trinity”) is now part of the cast.

Well the show wasn't the best but it should be intersetign to see how this turns out.

Good Green Hunting
Date : April 23, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris

I can see David Goyer pissing his pants from laughter…. But nevertheless, good rumours aren’t meant to lie dormant, right? And if it puts a smile on someone’s dial – or even gets the studio thinking about the guy in question – then ours job’s done.

Surely the over-active imagination of a virginal comic book buff, ComicBookMovie relays a rumour that Matt Damon – a guy who, lets face it, has been rumoured for every movie at one time or another – is up for the role of the jade suited ‘Green Arrow’ in Goyer’s upcoming “Super Max” movie.

Should Damon – also recently rumoured to be up for the role of another heroic icon, Captain Kirk, in J.J Abrams’ “Star Trek” prequel – sign up, he won’t be playing a superhero per say, but more so, a variation on old Oliver.

The film will resolve around a wrongly convicted Green Arrow being whisked away to a prison.

Its not the first time Damon has been rumoured for a superhero role – he was also tipped to be in the running to play The Sub Mariner a couple of years back (Considering ‘The Rock’ was also in the mix, apparently, for that role – I think its safe to say that’s bulldust … if only because the two guys are chalk and cheese). And like “Super Max”, the rumours surfaced before there was even a script… and needless to say, any talk of casting had taken place on an official level.

NB : Having said all that, I think Damon would be fantastic in the role. He’d give the character some real, well, character. Hopefully, there is something in this…

I can see it.

Director found for Magneto spin-off!
Date : April 27, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris

I hated “X-Men 3”. Hated it. I’d rather sip blended snot through the straw of one of Courtney Love’s drinking cups than sit through it again. I just thought it was a travesty…. A total waste of Tommy Rothman’s money; and a blemish on what was otherwise a brilliant series of films.

I’ve got to be totally honest and say I never thought we’d see another good “X-Men” [Universe] movie again. It sounds like Brett Ratner, the guy who screwed up “X-Men 3” (or “X-Men : I can’t Stand” as it should’ve been titled), has pretty much sewn up the deal to direct “Wolverine”, starring Hugh Jackman, so chances of it being good are slim to none.

Some good news, though. A guy who might be able to turn this ‘all around’ has signed on to direct the “Magneto” movie!

David Goyer, the comic-book loving writer/director/fanboy of “Blade”, “Batman Begins” and “The Flash” (well, he would’ve been involved in The Flash had Warners decided his script was too creative… and wouldn’t sell enough toys), has been roped into calling the shots on the spin-off.

The project, which is in the early stages of development, focuses on a young Magneto, the villain of the "X-Men" movies, and his friendship with a young Professor X, and how the two eventually became mortal enemies. The characters would not be played by Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart, who originated them in the series, but by actors in their 20s.

Goyer will be working off a script by Sheldon Turner, says Variety.

So this is great news. The only negative is that the “Wolverine” movie (granted, if they get someone else to do it besides Ratner… we may be in luck!) will be out before “Magneto”…. But this is Hollywood, things change everyday. Heck, yesterday… I found Hilary Duff attractive… I even thought “Bobby” would scoop the Oscars… and Tom Sizemore would find good work again.

Nice, Goyer is the man right now in comic/films. Too bad it's not his script though.

Where Art Thou Sgt. Rock?
Date : April 27, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris

Joel Silver’s long-planned “Sgt. Rock” movie – at one time planned as a vehicle for Arnold Schwarzenegger – is edging closer to becoming a reality.

IGN Movies talked to David Gambino, the vice president of production for Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment, who revealed that one of the hold-up’s on the film is the fact that they can’t think of anyone ‘tough enough’ to play the gun-toting title character.

"It's going to be a challenge because it's a big movie to mount and it's going to require someone to play Rock, and there's not a lot of guys out there who can really step into the shoes, put a helmet on, and be a real tough guy," says Gambino. "He's written in the comic as being this really bulky, muscular guy. That's not an easy thing to cast."

Gambino says they’re considering doing the flick like “300” - in front of greenscreens and with digital backgrounds being an option.

"The good news is we have a fantastic screenplay and everybody's really happy with it," he says. "It's really just about trying to attach cast right now and really decide what the movie is going to be, how we're going to make it. There's been talk about possibly doing it like a 300, really making it like a graphic novel come to life, but no decisions have really been made on that.”

(Buried at the bottom of IGN’s report about the film was a bit about “Project Greenlight Australia” winner Morgan O’Neill (“Solo”) selling Dark Castle a script called “The Factory” which Gambino says is, “pretty great and I'm expecting it to be probably our next film down the line in the winter.")

For the record Sgt. Fury> Sgt. Rock, as for the film, fuck Dark Castle, aint nothign but shit anyways. As for the greenscreen thing, WHY, WHY, WHY? It needs no greenscreen.

Mr. Orange Vs. Mr. Green
Date : May 10, 2007 Posted By : staff

I tell ya, whoever’s the casting director on the new “Hulk” movie deserves more than a couple of backend points in the film… because the stars might just make this movie. If anything, the presence of Edward Norton, Liv Tyler and now Tim Roth, will definitely put bums on seats. I’ve already packed my comfortable undies.

Roth (“Pulp Fiction” "Reservoir Dogs") is playing the villain, Abominable, in “The Incredible Hulk”, says Variety.

Emil Blonsky (Roth) is a KGB agent who deliberately exposes himself to the gamma rays that caused Bruce Banner (Norton) to morph into the Hulk. Blonsky has upped the dosage, making him larger and stronger than the Hulk, but unable to change back to human form. He blames Banner for his problem, and makes his best efforts to destroy the Hulk.

“The Hulk” ‘smashes’ into theatres June 2008.

Captain Marvel about to Rock?
Date : May 10, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has been linked to a "bunch" of Superhero roles over the past few years - the one that comes to mind right now is Namor in the 'Sub-Mariner' movie - and now his name's being thrown about for another. Captain Marvel. The difference this time? This one isn't just scuttlebut. The big guy's gone on record to say he's considering it.

The Rock tells IESB.net that he may re-team with his "Get Smart" director Peter Segal for "Shazam", if the script is to his liking.

"John August is writing the script and he's a tremendous writer, and I'll just wait for the script to come in. But I'd love to work with Pete again, and certainly would want to work with John August. So there's a strong possibility", said Sir Rockio.

Its also been revealed that The Rock mightn't just be interesting in playing the caped wonder himself, but also Black Adam, Captain Marvel's nemesis in the film... so the possibility of him appearing in the film seem to be weighing in heavily.

The Wrestling icon has a full plate at the moment. In addition to "Get Smart", he's also attached to star in the long-awaited "Spy-Hunter" and "Johnny Bravo".

Booo, i can't see it, size wise, yes but i can't see the Rock in the role.

The Riddler in the next Batman movie?
Date : July 9, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris

Remember a couple of weeks ago when we reported that Anthony Michael Hall (Farmer Ted, Johnny Smith) was playing some non-specific criminal in the next “Batman” movie?

Yeah? Well, seems that’s not quite right. The dude not only has a name… he has a name that “Batman” fans will most definitely recognize.

According to Filmick, Hall could actually playing ‘The Riddler’ in “The Dark Knight”.

They could be right, I really don’t know, but it seems a little silly adding another villain to the mix? After all, we’re going to have not only The Joker in the new film but also Two-Face (kinda). The last thing Chris Nolan wants it to have, er, a “Spider-Man 3” on his hands.
Then again... according to the site Hall’s character will only be known as Mr. Edward Nygma in the film – and we won’t necessarily see him as ‘The Riddler’… so its possible. I assume we won't see the character in full villain form until the next sequel, at least. If this is indeed the case, then The Riddler and Two-Face will be the villains of the next movie…. Sound familiar?

I don't want him to be a main villian, yet anyways, they need to cock tease us with him, have him the villian in part 4, which i'm not sure if Nolan would direct, i see him stoping at the third, which comes out in 2011, supposedly.

Watchmen official cast announcement
Date : July 31, 2007    Posted By : Clint Morris

Warner Bros has sent out an official release announcing - what was revealed at Comic Con - the cast of "Watchmen". We've also been provided with the official teaser poster.

SAN DIEGO, CA, July 27, 2007 – Filmmaker Zack Snyder (''300''), who is set to direct Warner Bros. Pictures’ feature film adaptation of the award-winning graphic novel ''Watchmen,'' today announced the cast of the highly anticipated epic before 6,500 fans during a presentation at this year’s Comic-Con International convention in San Diego, California. Watchmen will be produced by Lawrence Gordon (Die Hard), Lloyd Levin (United 93) and Deborah Snyder (''300''), with Herbert W. Gains serving as executive producer. The film is targeted for a March 6, 2009, release.
Playing the film’s core group of “masks,” the masked adventurers at the center of the story, are Malin Akerman (upcoming The Heartbreak Kid) as Laurie Juspeczyk, aka Silk Spectre; Billy Crudup (''The Good Shepherd'') as Jon Osterman, aka Dr. Manhattan; Matthew Goode (''Match Point'') as Adrian Veidt, aka Ozymandias; Jackie Earle Haley (''Little Children'') as Walter Kovacs, aka Rorschach; Jeffrey Dean Morgan (TV’s ''Grey’s Anatomy'') as Edward Blake, aka the Comedian; and Patrick Wilson (''Little Children'') as Dan Dreiberg, aka Nite Owl.
A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the “Doomsday Clock” – which charts the USA’s tension with the Soviet Union – is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion – a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers – Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity…but who is watching the watchmen?
''Watchmen'' was originally published by DC Comics as a 12-comic book series between 1986 and 1987, before subsequently being collected into a trade paperback. It is the only graphic novel to win the prestigious Hugo Award or to be named among Time magazine’s “100 Best English Language Novels from 1923 to the Present.”

Is Thor from Rome?
Date : August 14, 2007    Posted By : Kirby Kegar

Kevin McKidd, fresh from the TV series Rome, is rumoured to have snag the lead role in Thor, Matthew Vaughn’s film take on the classic Marvel comic, according to IESB.net.

If true, McKidd will be the second cast member from Rome to have scored a superhero gig in recent weeks – co-star Ray Stevenson was recently sworn in as the new Punisher.

Whatcha think? is this guy the Thunder God?

Never seen the show but two cast members in Marvel films, idk. Of course Marvel's made mistakes before.

So Who's Gonna Play Thor, Anyway?
Triple H, Kevin McKidd singing "Me So Thor-ny"?
by Jeff Giles | August 15, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
As we discussed a week ago, Stardust director Matthew Vaughn is gearing up to bring Marvel Comics' Thor to the big screen. With a writers' strike looming, the production team is trying to get the project done sooner than later, which is why the casting rumors are already coming fast and furious -- and IGN Movies (via CHUD and IESB) brings us word of not one, but two actors who could potentially play the hammer-wielding hero.

First, from CHUD, comes word of the studio's rumored choice for the role:

Marvel wants wrestler Triple H to play the god of thunder, while Vaughn is dead set against it.

From a physical standpoint, the WWE star whose mother named him Paul Levesque wouldn't be a bad choice -- and if Thor was being made 20 years ago, this is exactly the direction everyone would expect the project to go. (Matter of fact, we're sort of surprised Brian Bosworth never starred in a late '80s, direct-to-video Thor.) Still, it's easy to see why Vaughn would resist the studio's alleged overtures, and IESB claims that another actor under consideration for the part of Asgard's favorite son is the decidedly less bulky Kevin McKidd (of Rome).

Back in the day, of course, the comic-book version of Thor walked the Earth as the gimpy mortal Dr. Donald Blake, who transformed into his immortal alter ego by striking his cane on the ground -- so it isn't completely out of the question that both actors could wind up in front of Vaughn's cameras. Just a thought.

Well that adds to yesterday, but i found it funny on the Dead set against it, thing.

Casting Breakdowns for Punisher 2
Date : August 15, 2007    Posted By : Clint Morris

The sides for “The Punisher 2: Welcome Back Frank” landed on a pal’s desk this morning. Snagged them for myself – or rather, for you guys.

Here’s a squiz:

THE PUNISHER: WELCOME BACK FRANK,
CAST, Ray Stevenson
EXEC PROD, Oliver Hengst, John Sacchi, Michael Paseornek
PROD, Gale Anne Hurd, Ari Arad, Kevin Feige, Jeremy Latcham
AP, Wolfgang Shamberg, Ernst August Schnieder;
DIR, Lexi Alexander; S
CR, Nick Santora, Art Marcum, Kurt Sutter, Matt Holloway.

Breakdown—

Billy Russo / Jigsaw: 30s, tragically vain and quick to anger. Billy is a pretty-boy mobster known as "Billy The Beaut." Billy is his own worst enemy when it comes to career advancement -- so he's got a little something going on the side. When The Punisher interrupts his operation, Billy winds up horribly mutilated. Now known as Jigsaw, he conspires with his even-crazier brother to end The Punisher's reign of rough justice. Lead;

Luke MacDonald: Late 20s-Early 30s. Luke is a steely-eyed FBI agent, built like a cruiserweight. A man with the stern, hard-headed demeanor of a young Frank Castle, he makes it his life's work to bring The Punisher to justice. Lead;

Detective Martin Soap: Early 30s, Soap is a local police detective in Long Island, and like Luke, he has made it his mission to catch The Punisher - only Martin is hopelessly inept, easily distracted, an apparent dim bulb who can be lured away by a jelly doughnut. Totally immune to insults that might lead him to adjust his clunky behavior, Soap fumbles his way through every aspect of his investigations - but in fact, he's not dumb at all, he's just following an agenda all his own. Lead;

LBJ: Mid-Late 30s, the brother of Billy Russo, known as Loony Bin Jim, he is a man of average size, first seen wrapped in a strait jacket; wiry, almost reptilian, he doesn't seem big enough to cause trouble for The Punisher - but his blood chemistry is violently out of whack, so flooded with adrenaline and testosterone that he's got to create his own private killing field just to let off steam. Volatile, unstable, and usually just plain crazy, LBJ is a homicidal maniac who joins forces with his mutilated brother, and together the two men have themselves a party. Lead;

Angela Donatelli: Early-Mid 30s. Angela is the mother of 5 year old Grace, and she's the wife of undercover FBI agent Nicky Donatelli. Lead; Microchip: Late 30s-Early 40s. An overweight man wearing glasses, Microchip is Frank's armorer, one of the few people who knows Frank's secret identity as The Punisher. Far too unathletic to go into combat himself, and the sole caretaker for his mom, who is crippled by Alzheimer's and needs constant care, Microchip uses his array of Internet connections to assemble The Punisher's stockpile of illicit weapons. Lead;

Nicky Donatelli: Early-Mid 30s. Nicky is Billy Russo's right hand man - he's considerably brighter but less ruthless than the rest of the soldati in the crime family. Castle regards him as just another underworld killer but in fact, Nicky is an undercover FBI agent.

Of have you seen Miller talk about him "directing" sin city, the way he spoke of it was as if he did more than Rodriguez. Now he's talkign about how much he can't wait to direct the Spirit, since his enjoyment on his first "feature".
