A Teeny Tidbit More On THE DARK KNIGHT's New Batsuit?? Merrick again... I don't recall running across this too widely...the only place I found reference to it was HERE...although our tipster makes it sound like the changes to the new suit are more dramatic than posited in the article linked above. Aonemantidalwave sent in this snippet regarding a recent encounter he had with someone working on THE DARK KNIGHT. I've tweaked this message to avoid revealing the identity of the person working on the film. MINOR COSTUME-RELATED SPOILER AHEAD!?!? Both Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan have seen a new Batsuit & there's been a fitting. I told this person how I didn't particularly dig the suit in Batman Begins and said it was too bulky. To this he/she replied, "Well then you'll love the new one." He/she also stated that Bats changes his suit halfway through the film - and its a major plotpoint as to the how and why this happens. He/she sadly, had no news about the Joker's get up. This source is new to us, so keep that in mind when contemplating the vast array of costuming possibilities here. If I'm repeating something that's already widely known, my apologies. Could be interesting. Here's Some Promo Art For FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER!! Featuring (Surprisingly Enough) The Surfer!! Merrick here... …with a look at some promotional art for FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER. No, I’m not going to point out the Surfer’s nards in this article…’cause they ain't evident in these shots (not that I looked). The ever-humbling Father Time sent this in, and tells me that we should start seeing this material in various locales rather soon. These seem to be variants of shots/angles we've seen before. I like the minimalist approach to this element of the campaign...hope they stick with it. I had to shrink these images down; that line of text in the lower corner of the second image is plugging the film's site, which can be accessed HERE. Folks who don't like the filmmakers' realization of The Silver Surfer in FF2 might prefer this approach: Looks like a naked and crazed Paul Shaffer with a pricing gun...but I'm not sure...and I dont' know that I want to know. pics http://www.aintitcool.com/node/31829 |

I hope it's adding bat-nipples. The last one was a little too much, it made Bale look small when it wasn't on. |

That Dead End fanfilm sucked more sphincter than born2beskinny after a ride through the desert, but it had the right idea with Batman's costume. Nipples would be nice, though. |

Last i've read, Gerard Butler to star in Watchmen Date : March 5, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris IESB has landed a plum scoop from “300” director Zack Snyder (very nice guy by the way, seems to know his stuff) suggesting he’ll be re-using (I dunno, is that the word?) Gerard Butler, the star of his new historical battle royale, for “Watchmen”. Snyder has already slotted in Butler to the movie – based on the graphic novel about some ragtag former crime-fighters who are drawn back into action by the murder of a former teammate, The Comedian, which turns out to be the leading edge of a much wider, more disturbing conspiracy - but is tight lipped on what role he’d be playing. Might it be for the role that Snyder said Tom Cruise was circling for a while, that of Ozymandias? Shall see. I didn't care for 300 but he might work in the Watchmen. I never cared for the 300 GN but i relly dig the Watchmen GN, so i'm hoping it turns out well, though idc for Snyder helming it. |

Exclusive : Superman WON'T go it alone Date : March 19, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris A couple of months back I’d heard some whispers – whispers initiating as echoes from rather illustrious corridors mind you; that’s the only way I can put it without outing the pretty solid sources here – about the next “Superman” movie. After the slightly (I say only slightly, because the film was still profitable) disappointing returns on “Superman Returns”, Warner were in two minds about whether to continue the series or not – right away, anyway. One idea that came up was to make their long-planned “Justice League” movie, and possibly just incorporate ‘Superman’ into that. Cut to a month or so ago, and the trades announce that the studio is in the early stages of developing a “Justice League” movie. Interestingly enough, a couple of weeks later, those some publications announce that the next “Superman” sequel could be delayed- because director Bryan Singer has gone and got himself involved in another film; a thriller for United Artists. Interesting hey? Well, the plot thickens, I heard from a pretty reliable source this weekend – who, has some top contacts himself – who essentially confirmed that the WB are thinking of putting the next “Superman” movie into turnaround, and instead will just use the character in the new “Justice League” movie. (Funnily enough, Batman would not be involved in the new film – he’s too big to waste on a film like this, apparently). Having now heard the same from about half-a-dozen reliable insiders, I checked in with a couple of sources near the Water Tower itself, who wouldn’t confirm nor deny the reports, but definitely haven’t dismissed that it’s a possibility. One of them would only say that there “could be something in [that]”. I guess if it is true – and again, this is far from confirmation; and these rumours suggest that the idea is still just that… an idea – it doesn’t necessarily mean that a “Superman” sequel will be abandoned for good. Its probably just a way to get ‘more folks’ into seeing the next Superman movie – because he’ll be surrounded by other superheroes. Then, if that’s a monster hit, they might do a “Superman Returns” sequel. It isn’t a bad idea. FOX seems pretty confident that teaming ‘The Silver Surfer’ up with ‘The Fantastic Four’ is the best decision they’ve ever made for the latter property – especially considering their solo effort didn’t do much – so no doubt Warner will be keeping a close eye on their investment to see whether it does pay off. Whatever the case, I'm sure Brandon Routh will be the one to don the Blue and Reds again. Stay Tuned. Thanks to ‘Sir type-a-lot’, ‘Burbank Lass’ Well let's see, Superman sucked, The Flash has had casting trouble for years, & Joss Whedon was let go from Wonder Woman, i say go the the Justice League. Batman gets Fergalicious with Tony Soprano? Date : March 19, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris “Batman” may be getting … Fergalicious. According to Batman On Film, Producers of “The Dark Knight” could be – and it would make sense, I guess, she did do a small part in Warners’ “Poseidon”; last year – eyeing popstress Stacey ‘Fergie’ Ferguson for a role in the upcoming Caped Crusader Caper. There’s no further info given on what role ‘Fergie’ could be playing …but I can only assume, given the amount of ‘better’ actors on hand, that her part will be small. Think Elle MacPherson in “Batman & Robin” small. Could be wrong… but I just can’t see Chris Nolan, the films prolific director, wanting to cast a pop-singer in a major role in his movie. He’s too classy for that. Also being tipped for a role in the movie is “Sopranos” legend, James Gandolfini. No doubt he’d be playing a… gangster. Right? Eh i don't want Fergie, but i can see Gandolfini playing a gangster. Haley into Little Watchmen? Updated! Date : March 19, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris The Hollywood Reporter says that Haley has also just scored three more movies, including "Semi-Pro" with Will Ferrell. Click here for that item Comics2film is reporting that “Little Children” Oscar Nominee Jackie Earle Haley is being touted for a role in Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Watchmen”. The site reports that Haley – and Simon Pegg, for that matter – has been mentioned for the role of Rorschach in the superhero pic. Walter Joseph Kovacs, aka Rorschach, is the main protagonist of the film. Wearing the inkblot-like mask he considers his true face, Rorschach has continued his one-man battle against crime long after superheroes became both detested and illegal. Rorschach’s actions and journal writings display a belief in objectivism and moral absolutism, where good and evil are clearly defined and evil must be violently punished. He has alienated himself from the rest of society to achieve these aims Awesome news, i'd liek to see Pegg have a big role in a non Wright film. |

If it were to happen it would be at least interesting to see who they do include. The lack of Batman would be really nice given the franchise is fine as is. I would prefer getting a Green Lantern movie first, that way if it sucks I could look forward to Lantern being involved in this. |

I would loves a Corps movie, but the more I think about it, I would rather it be in animation form. The evolution of Hal Jordan would be fantastic. If done right the whole Parallax thing could be great, I just don't see it happening. |

Sony buzzing for Green Hornet movie Date : March 21, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris Looks like “The Green Hornet” is finally going to fly. Just a couple of years ago, The Weinstein Company had the rights to the TV series and had asked Kevin Smith to write the film version. At one stage, Jake Gyllenhaal was said to be the favourite to play the lead (But when isn’t Jake the favourite to play the lead in one of these superhero-ish movies, hey?) Smith left the project – later telling reporters, “As I started writing it I was like, ‘I can not direct an action movie. I have no idea how to do it. I’m not good at it and I don’t have patience.’– and the Weinstein’s ultimately gave up on the idea. Now Columbia has snapped up the property and tapped uber-producer Neal Moritz (“The Fast and the Furious”) to produce a film version, says Variety. "The Green Hornet" follows the adventures of Brit Reid, a millionaire publisher who moonlights as a masked crime fighter. It started as a radio serial hatched by "Lone Ranger" creators Fran Striker and George Trendle in 1936 -- traveling to comicbook, film and TV by the 1960s -- but recent attempts to develop it for the bigscreen hadn't panned out. The property had been in development at Universal and Miramax. Moritz obtained the film rights and optioned them to Sony, where he's based. Moritz said he's been a fan of "The Green Hornet" since seeing the '60s live-action TV series that starred Van Williams and Bruce Lee, and he's been trying to get the rights for years. He’s currently on the hunt for a writer. Here we go again. |

'Robin' as Wonder Woman? Date : March 22, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris Web rumour of the day: “How I Met Your Mother” star Cobie Smulders has snagged the role of “Wonder Woman” – yeah, I know what you’re saying ‘it’s something different every week’ – in uncle Joel’s pricey big-screen translation of the comic. According to Film Ick, The Vancouver-born actress – who plays spunky ‘Robin’ on the hit sitcom – has emerged as the frontrunner for the role. I find this a bit hard to swallow … if only because the film (as far as we know) doesn’t even have a director yet. Joss Whedon (“Serenity”) was onboard the project, but he exited the project recently – citing creative differences. Warner are apparently on the lookout for a replacement. Usually, the director has a say in casting a movie, and I’d presume this would still the case, so I don’t see anyone signing off on their “Wonder Woman” until the guy in charge arrives. Could be wrong though. I have been before – just like when I told my wife those noodles “won’t be spicy” and they were. One part of the story that indicates that there might be some truth to it is the bit that mentions Smulders was actually the gal that Whedon wanted for the role – and despite everything else, Producer Joel Silver was on the same page as his then-director. The beard apparently still loves Smulders… and is still dead keen to fit her for the wonder-bra. If it is true, I can see where he’s coming from – she’d fill it nicely. Sophia Bush (“The Hitcher”) is the only other candidate that we know of that’s actually spoken to Silver about the role. Eh, couldn't care less. The New Adventures of Superman Date : March 22, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris Seems there’s still life in the “Superman” sequel after all (not that I'd take the Variety item as a debunk... they couldn’t even get our ‘url’ right; don’t know how much stock you’d put into their investigative reporting – in fact, ‘Stax’ at IGN Movies had the best retort) which – despite rumours here earlier this week suggesting that wasn’t the case – suits me just fine. As I said, I’m dead-keen for the “Superman” series to be given a go. My contacts at the Water Tower insisted that those Superman/Justice League rumours was/is a real possibility... but, like, whatever. Just make it – either “Superman 2” or “JLA” – good. Anyway, Superman Homepage received word that the “Superman” sequel is still on track for a March 2008 start date. They’ve also received a rumour of their own – note to trades : ‘Rumour’ not ‘Fact’ – on who are playing the villains in the sequel. “The script has not yet been written, but discussions are being bounced around in regards to the major villains being Metallo and Brainiac. “Apparently the "Bank Gunner" from Superman Returns (the guy who shot Superman in the eye) will be the man who becomes/gets turned in to Metallo. It's unknown if he'll be referred to as John Corben or not. “The rumor goes on to state that Metallo does something pretty major in his huge battle with Superman which catches the attention of an alien orb in space (aka Brainiac), directing its attention towards Earth”. So no Lex? Hmmm. I'd rather see the Justice league film. |

Once Upon A Time In Sin City? Date : March 27, 2007 Posted By : Clint Morris When you get that 2008 almanac for Christmas make sure you dig up a marker and pencil in “Sin City 2” on there somewhere - I know, nobody likes to taint a newly bought calendar, but believe me this thing’s sounding damn special. According to MTV, Johnny Depp and Antonio Banderas – two old pals of Robert Rodriguez – might be reuniting with their “Once Upon A Time in Mexico” director for roles in the visually orgasmic sequel. "[Depp] was interested in doing the Jackie Boy character that Benicio [Del Toro] played [in the first one], but he was doing that movie 'Libertine' in Europe and it just kept getting pushed and delayed and went right through our shooting schedule," Rodriquez said." "But there is a better role for him in ['Hell and Back']. I kept going, 'Gosh, Jackie Boy is a small part, he could be really good [as Wallace].' When he wasn't available, I thought maybe it was meant to be." Wallace is a brooding artist who, due to being drugged repetitively, wanders through most of the tale – “Hell and Back” - hallucinating. “Desperado” star Banderas is also keen to do some green-screen work. "When I showed him the first sample of the work, he went, 'Man I'll do anything in that. I'll be the hunchback. You have to bring me onboard, that looks amazing,' " Rodriguez recalled. "So Frank met him that time too and he said, 'I have got to find something for that guy. I've never met him before. He's amazing.' [So we're] looking at the cast of characters and [looking] to see where he can fit." While it's been said to come out in 2006 & 2007, it looks as if 2008 will indeed have Sin CIty. Depp & Banderas will be in it though, no doubt. |
