Authenticity - Harvey Danger A forgotten song from the King James Version and Soul Survivors soundtrack. Way better than Flagpole Sitta. |

Mad World - Tears for Fears Like it just a pinch better than Gary Jules' version. It is more upbeat and melodic, which imo is easier to hear over and over again. Also helps to put me in a good mood |

Jay-Z - "Renegade" (w/ Eminem) I've never been a big fan of Jay-Z's work, but I'm quick to admit when I find a song of his that I actually like; and, needless to say, I like this song a great deal. The beat fits the mood of the song to a tee, both men bring some of their best lyrical efforts to the table, and the fact that such a song isn't more recognized is simply baffling, all things considered. Especially compared to most of the rap that one hears on the radio ad nauseam, not only is this song miles better, but, dare I say, it is one of the best songs to ever be recorded under the hip-hop genre. Regardless if you hate rap in general, aren't a casual listener, or whatever your situation reflects, this is most definitely worth at least one listen . . .

Pink Floyd - "Echoes" Pretentious crap, a 23 minute sprawling riff and pure rubbish, supposedly. In fact, this song is a complete contrast to said sentence, it first not being crap (I care not about pretence), but being "a very good number", and containing many different sections to it, from the pings of the start followed by a blissful guitar (with no 'beat' or 'riff') and then carrying on into the harmonious lyrics through the funky bass-led section to the whale/seagulls guitaring, back to a funky, reallllllllllly long lead in to an anti-climactic finishing lyric and finishing as wonderfully as it started. And it ain't rubbish, even though I'm not quoting anyone as saying that... In fact, was Echoes even mentioned by name? 23 minute sprawling riff could be a lot, actually, from Floyd's Atom Heart Mother through Genesis's Supper's Ready and even off to Queen's Track 13. HMMMMMM!?! |

Sepultura - Attitude Not a huge fan of heavy metal, but this song is bad-ass. As far as Sepultura are concerned, I’ve only heard the album ‘Roots’, but I like the use of tribal drumming in some of the songs. Not bad. A good song to play whilst fucking someone up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LgC7q5sWdM |

Eve 6- Arch Drive Goodbye One of the greatest Eve 6 tunes, this song, in an unintentionally poetic way, fits not only the intended meaning, but the fate of the band itself. The final song on the band's third and final album, It's All In Your Head, Arch Drive Goodbye is an absolute how-to in sinple, poignant, modern rock balladry. Starting off slow, soft, and gentle, the song seems to be an ode to a soon-to-be ex, and yet still carries an overall posive message. The first verse is almost completely soft, with Max Collins's simple, pure vocals carrying all the emotion of the basic yet beautiful lyrics. After the second chorus comes a bridge, which marks the increase in tempo and volume, and yet it is a believable, non-jarring change. There is a brief return to the soft simplicity, followed by a repitition of the upbeat section, ending the song and the band's final outing with a fading "Pick yourself up off the ground." 04:06 of pure, simple, beautiful rock, plain and simple. |

#1 Crush - Garbage The mood of the song goes VERY well with the movie of the soundtrack it was on. While the lyrics do very little for me, the song/music is very intense http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI-lbbGT8g0 |

Gym Class Heroes - "Cupid's Chokehold" (w/ Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy) This song has been out since 2005, apparently, but I first heard it 2 days ago on someone's MySpace page. I wouldn't normally embrace a song of this nature as much as I have, since then, but it's so damn catchy that I can't help myself. It is the quintessential radio hit; and, whilst I hate the radio, this is most definitely an exception. Looks like Alternative Hip Hop is a genre I should further check into, if this is anything to go by . . . "Badadada!" I give it an 8 out of 10. PEACE! |

Johnny Cash - Gods gonna cut you down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrZZ-MxIbeA Absolutely soul-stirring stuff. Fantastic guitar over the stomp and clap whilst the man in black puts in some haunting vocals. Even though I'm an atheist I still gets chill from this song. Awesome video too, showing that no-one is exempt. |

What I've Done - Linkin Park New single from Linkin Park. Horrible (not a terrible song, but VERY generic) in contrast to their early work. The music is nice listening, but the lyrics do nothing for me |

T.I. - "What You Know" I just recently became a fan of T.I.'s work, with this song taking an early lead as my personal favorite. His 2006 album, "King", was one of the highest selling of the year; and if the rest of it is of the same, or better quality as the 3 tracks I've already heard, it may very well warant a late purchase. Here's my favorite part of the song, for anyone who's interested. It also happens to be the chorus: "Don’t you know I got key by the three when I chirp shawty chirp back, Louis nap sack where I holding all the work at. What you know about that? What you know about that? What you know about that? I know all about that . . . Loaded 44 on the low where the cheese at, Fresh off the jet to the Jects where the G’s at. What you know about that? What you know about that? What you know about that? I know all about that . . ." |

Israel Kamakawiwo´ole - "Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" If you live stateside, you've probably heard the beginning of this song in a commercial or two. I found the full version on youtube, and it's incredibly soothing. I never thought a huge Hawaiian guy with a ukelele could make such beautiful music. |
