The Allman Brothers Band - Blue Sky Aaaawww. What a cute song. Walking down a road, talking to the birds and enjoying the scenery. Lyrics are sweet, but a bit dull. It's the guitar solo bridge, making up at least 3/4 of the song that's the brilliance maker here. It goes on and on and on and on and is just wonderfully wonderful, amazingly amazing and fantastically fantastic. Happy happy! |

It works so well in those Busch beer ads, too. Especially when the song climaxes and some douche whispers the beer's name really loudly over images of mountains and shit. |

Into the Void - Black Sabbath Sometimes I'm a bit disturbed by how much I've grown to identify with the band and songs such as this in the past 6 months. Other days I just say "fuck it", and soak it all in. Anyway, the song comes as part of a nicely edited vid with a brief history of flight and space exploration. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijVYhOSFHGA I'd have to imagine that combining this song with a starry sky, Supernaut, and your drug of choice would be a mighty fine experience. PS I echo Cowards' sentiments from the top of the page. |

Young Lust by Glenn Hughes A cover of Pink Floyd's song by the Trapeze, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath legend. A completely different take on the song by "the Voice of Rock," with incorporated funk beats and the sort of near-falsetto high notes that Roger Waters could only dream of hitting even in his prime, but still recognisably Floydian. Terrific stuff. |

The Bends (Whole album) by Radiohead Honestly, the choir practices we have are intense...for choir practices anyways (Some run up to 5 hours, and our teacher being a maniac who throws shit at us doesn't help.) So this really helps me, and some of the other guys and gals relax. I loved it before, I fucking love it now. |

The Way I Feel About You - Karyn White. Yeah. I was going to listen to "Time" by Pink Floyd, but figured this was better and so, I started playing it. |

Pink Floyd - "Echoes" Maybe it's because my laptop is on my desk, and the sound is going more directly toward me, but this song is doing something to me. The introductory pings and guitar nubbling made my heart palpatate (or something). Simply gorgeous. Love this song, but that goes without saying, really. |

I'll catch a lot of shit for this, but I've been listening to Angels and Airwaves a lot. Now, I'd like to preface this with I couldn't give a fuck less about your opinion regarding mine. Now then, I've been listening to the album I-Empire for about a week now, and it's phenominal. It's one of the few cds I own that I can listen to it beging to end. It's a mix of U2 and 80's synth-rock. If you love blink (which I do) then you're probably going to love this. Not because they sound alike, but because of Tom Delonge's vocals. |

Death Cab for Cutie - "I Will Possess Your Heart" The new 8 minute 36 second single from the band. Long intro, but it's amazing. The singing starts about halfway and it's very nice. Can't wait for the new album. |

I bought a turntable today to go with the hundreds of vinyl albums I've had for no explicit purpose...UNTIL NOW. These are mostly albums. Pink Floyd - Echoes: Pretty much the best way to christen the thing. Fuck the rest of Meddle, though I'm sure it's a perfectly acceptable album. Nothing beats whale noises and albatross. The Sonics - Boom: A fantastic garage rock album from one of the 1960's most overlooked bands. The highlight is "Shot Down," with a hard, drunk as fuck cover of "Louie, Louie" coming in a close second. Sleater-Kinney - The Hot Rock: I love SK, but I was busy doing other stuff while it droned on around me. Sounds like an interesting album though...it's one that I'll have to give a second spin around. Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska: Possibly the best thing Bruce has ever done? Without the E. Street Band, everything sounds much more raw and emotional. Songs like "Johnny 99" fucking shine without the band backing it up. Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over the Sea: A fucking fantastic album, one of my favorites of all time. Sounds different on vinyl, if only because the horns fade into the background of the mix more (lol, look at how nerdy I am). Possibly the best indie album of the 1990's. |

Joanna Newsom - Monkey and Bear Fantastic trumpet part in the background. Fantastic song. Fantastic album. I think Of is probably the only person who would agree with me. |

Yeah, it's brilliant. Just so poignant, so uplifting, so weird. I can't get anyone to like her and it's getting depressing. |
