Well this got off to a FLYING START... Queen - "Too Much Love Will Kill You" Released after Mercury's death, this song is something of a eulogy sung by the man himself. He sings about how having too much love will... kill you. It's an awesome song, with a lot of power, coming from a man on his last legs, dying because of the bastard that is AIDs. Something which I wish wasn't used as a thrown around term so much, because it's not something I think people should joke about. Anyway, this song = good. Tearfully good. The last words of the song are particularly powerful 4 years after Mercury's death when Made In Heaven (geddit?), the album which this is from was released... "Too much love will kill you... In the end. In the end..." Come to think of, I think Queen may have been Floydians. For this has a stricking resemblance to Gilmour's Fat Old Sun ('Sing to me. Siiiing to me...'). And the title of The Show Must Go On is used by both bands, although in different contexts. Expect more investigation SOON! |

Lil Wayne - "Leather So Soft" (w/ Baby) I used to think very little of Lil Wayne, but he's starting to grow on me more and more over the weeks. Despite the fact that he sounds somewhat unintelligible when he rhymes, he is actually a pretty decent lyricist who is capable of painting a mental picture, and it's really easy to get lost in the sounds of his beats. Of course, I hate Baby, but listening to him is a small price to pay for such a soothing jam in return. Peace, bitches . . .

"Now We Are Free" Performed by Lisa Gerrard, and Composed by Hans Zimmer. Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard combine their talents in producing a unique score which seems to span several genres and ages of music. The listening experience ranges from refreshing to exhilarating and is well worth your time. Gerrard is sometimes confused with Enya, but (in my opinion) has far more range (vocally). Here is a link to the song: http://youtube.com/watch?v=XS9REY1H0pY |

Arcade Fire - "Rebellion (Lies)" I listened to this song about 20 times in a week, and I never get bored of this. This is really a FANTASTIC song. The lyrics are beautiful and this entire song is beautiful! I just love this song so much, I can't get enough of it. |

The Allman Brothers Band - "Whipping Post" - Live At Fillmore East Whoever is the lead guitarist for the Allmans (I believe it's Duane, but he might be slide guitaristic) is absolutely making his sexstick sound like the edges of heaven. This is the MAJOR reason I bought the album, a 23 minute rendition of "Whip", and it's tremendous with a capital second 'e'!! At Fillmore East is TOTALLY worth your buckaroons. Unless buckaroo translates to donkey in your dialect, and then it's not. Donkey > Women > CD's. The holes are just so awesome on a donkey, compared to ladies and compact dick... discs. |

My board, my rules. I DOUBLE POST~! Pink Floyd - "Fat Old Sun" - BBC Sessions 1971 If heaven had a particular sound, I think the organ introduction might just be it. In fact, if heaven had a song, I'll bet it would be this. I could imagine Jesus dancing to this, and St Paul doing headstands etc. (Points for extra LOLz). Anywoo. Take a 5 minute song on the album and triple it. TRIPLE IT!! And then in the 10 minutes you have extra, repeat a verse and add a six minute jam session to it, full of guitar and MiniMoog. And then have it introduced by John Peel. And this is the result. And it's fucking balls of sex0rs!! And it's free. Legally free!! Yayay! |

Arcade Fire - "No Cars Go" Even better than Rebellion (Lies)! Just a beautiful, amazing, super-de-dooper song! I love the opening, then it just gets better and better. The lyrics, once again, are great and this may be my favorite song of theirs. |

This is slowly turning into a "What Song Are You Listening To?" thread. I think more than one or two sentences should be required to describe a song. |

Snappleman-I Could Be Banned Soon Trigger http://dod.vgmix.com/past/dec06/Snappleman...-Banned-DoD.mp3 The winner of one of VGMix.com's monthly "Dwelling of Duels" contest, this song is 8:35 of pure genius. A rock rendition of all of the themes of Chrono Trigger's final boss, Lavos, with a smattering of chillout thanks to the inclusion of the post-apocalypse theme, this song really is a sonic journey. Doing justice to the original material while still taking it to a whole 'nother facemelting level, Snappleman truly deserved the winning spot he got for this masterpiece. Particularly rockin' is the "World Revolution" segment, beginning at 2:25. A must download for any fan of rock VG remixes, Chrono Trigger, or both. |

Abortion - Kid Rock The single, solitary song I'd recommend to fags like Andy who think Kid Rock is anything less than awesome. The song is about a man who got his girlfriend to have an abortion, but now they're married with more kids, and he feels guilty. The song is almost like an ode to an unborn child, and actually pretty touching. Not swearing in it helps too. |

Pink Floyd - "Echoes" from Meddle Currently on the home straight, appreciating the lead in to the final verse, and the long Strat notes contrasting with the plucky bass (or what someone on NPF calls the Groovy Bass... 47). Yeah, so it's a good-un... And I can't articulate it any more than that, sadly. Not much of a SONG REVIEW, but I tried, and failed... les miserables! |

Advent One Winged Angel-The Black Mages. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5st0b3ln5U Despite the fact that cloud is a little emo fag. His super villain, Sepiroth owns him and everyone else in every way concievable and this song is more proof. Love the use of all the instruments. Altought it doesn't pwn all in the acoustic version as much. |

Led Zeppelin-"Nobody's Fault But Mine" I just finished listening to "When Teh Levee Breaks" as well. The combonation of Page's guuitar and Plant's harmonica kicks so much ass it's not even funny. Another Zep song where I also love the Blues tie-in. Great stuff. |

Pay the Man - Offspring The very last song on their Americana CD. It is longer than most, if not all, song from the Offspring and that is what turn me off to the song at first. That and the very long instrumental at the beginning (3 minutes). After sitting through the song, it is a good listen. It has kind of a middle eastern vibe at the beginning, but near the middle to end, classic Offspring ensues (5 minute mark). Very good listen |
