((I think Carlin needs a friend. Sorry if it's short, didn't have much to fluff it up with.))
It had been two months and Valkyrie still hadn't been able to come with a good enough reason for her to regret her choice of going to the dance. She shouldn't have liked to go to a school function, having to be in close quarters with mudbloods and traitors. Knowing that they think they're safe if just for the night. That would have been a good enough reason if Keith hadn't been there to keep her company through the evening. He wasn't the same as he usually was and it had surprised her. Val didn't typically like interacting with boys or anyone in general really. Certain people were the exception and most of the time she tolerated his behavior. She was used to seeing the annoying smile and brotherly stubborness in him, but it was almost as if he was a different person that night. Keith never whispered in her ear or seemed like the type who would go along with a ploy to make someone else jealous. He had held her close, if not a little too close most of the night. Kissing her forehead and things like that. She wasn't stupid. She had noticed his wistful looks at the older red haired girl and since he was helping her, she had done the same by not bolting and trying to look like she was having a decent time.
With a sigh, the young girl ran a frustrated hand over her face. She had moved from one stupid confusing boy and those problems to another stupid confusing boy who was going to create problems for her if she let him. Valkyrie had more or less ignored him since the dance and that was fine with her. He was probably used to it with all the times that she ignored half the things he tried to say to her before. Just to be safe though, she went to the one place that he would be. The library. She'd hide out there till she saw him and get some homework done at the same time. When he walked in, she'd simply sneak out. As soon as she opened the door though, she realized that perhaps this was not the best idea. There was shouting going on and it sounded like there was a lot more then just two people having a couple's spat. Merlin, the one time she wanted to do her work, people wouldn't let her. Curiosity got the best of her and she drifted by on the pretext of looking for a table. A "SHUT THE FUCK UP." came to her ears and Val used that to pick her way through the shelves to where everyone was crowded.
Val made a note that the librarians were no where to be found as she started to take in the group in front of her. There were about seven people there and from what she could see, everyone's tempers were running to the breaking point. The Malfoy girl was calm as expected from a girl of her blood and stature. The mudblood prefect was there probably being a pain in the arse with all the problems she caused by being in power. A boy and a girl she didn't know. Zach, whom she steadfastly ignored after giving him a hard glare. Then she turned her attention to the person who was currently talking. Carlin. The one person whom she kind of considered a friend. And from the tears running down her face, the girl could tell that her world must be breaking down around her and whatever this was, it had to do with her. "I've been too soft on you haven't I?" Making her way slowly into the group, she stayed more or less on Carlin's side of the group. It didn't seem like there were many of people to crowd that area of the shelves anyawys. "Didn't screw you hard enough, did I? Your messed up families are a secret...but not me? tsk tsk" Oh crap... she really was upset. That was not good.
She could be cool and calm when faced against anyone but her cousin, but that wasn't Carlin. She was a little bit more hot headed and open with her emotions. Without looking at everyone else surrounding them, especially Meissa and Zach, the young girl in all her pureblood attitude put an arm around Carlin's shoulders like a friend and said, "Hey Carlin." There was a smile on her face, but her tone said the opposite. This girl was the only one whom she would list as a friend. After the summer when she had stayed at her house, the two had had more time to talk and bond. So if she was being made to feel the outcast, then Valkyrie was going to help her. "What's going on here? Zach pissed that you didn't give him what he wanted?" The other girl knew how much she didn't like him and hopefully it would cool her down a little bit by making ajoke. "Or one of these little sukas need to be put in their place" Suka meant bitch and with a prefect around, there was no way that she was going to curse in English and get detention for it.

Handler's note: Sorry for the wait, guys!
The second Evelyn finished speaking, Aimee was at her side. And she was livid. "I'm not exactly sure what is going on here, but this is not the place to handle petty little disagreements." "Oh, shoot." Evelyn snapped her fingers. "And here I thought we'd all sit in a circle and share our feelings," she said sarcastically. "But I guess this isn't an after school special, hm?" My life is more like a soap opera. Sex. Betrayal. Enemies. The only thing that's missing is a murder. But the Prefect had already turned away and was trying to calm George down. She sneaked a peek at him. George looked like he wanted to snap someone's neck. Perhaps there would be a murder after all. At least my family will come to my funeral. Maybe she should leave while she could still use her legs. Maybe this really wasn't such a brilliant idea. The smart thing to do would be to walk away. Leave without a word. But she was far too upset to stop now. She liked Aimee and hated to upset her, but she would just have to deal with her later. She didn't really care if she got detention or if she got house points deducted. If anything, she'd feel upset because Aimee would be disappointed in her.
Her eyes swept around the room, stopping on a blond-haired couple. Meissa and Zach. She still hated Meissa. She didn't have anything against the boy, but why in the hell would he willingly sit with the Ice Bitch? At least Meissa had agreed to be in the library. Maybe Meissa secretly thought Evelyn wasn't as hopeless as she once said. She watched as the two whispered back and forth. What were talking about her and Carlin? As if reading her mind, the white-haired demon spoke. "Carlin is a bisexual prostitute who plays quidditch for both sides? I think that’s what Aimee's sentence was supposed to end in. And the point Evelyn is trying to get across. But we already knew that, didn't we? I thought everybody did. Obviously not." A pause. "Awkward." And just like that, the girl turned back to her book as if she hadn't said anything at all. For the briefest second, Evelyn wanted to hit her. Again. But the moment passed quickly and she felt her lips spreading into an amused little smirk. "Thanks for your input, Meissa." Her eyes shot to Carlin. "She's right, you know. I feel like I should have paid you, actually. If being a slut were a sport, you'd be the champion. You can have your own cereal. Would you like that? Your legs will be open on the box, and it can read 'Breakfast of Champions.'" Her smirk quickly transformed into a grin at George's shouting. "Telling Carlin to shut up is like telling her to keep her legs closed; it won't happen." The Lion let out a little giggle and she settled back on the table, studying George and Carlin. Wow. Poor George. Carlin probably didn't really love him, either."Oh, but George, she has changed. She went from fucking guys to fucking both guys and girls." She shrugged. "I'm probably not the only girl she's screwed. I think she feels accomplished, really." Wow. She was being harsh. Suddenly, a soft, all-too-familiar voice reached her ears.
"Evelyn... Ev..." Ameila. Evelyn turned. Shit. She didn't notice Ameila here before. They locked eyes. "Ev... I know you hate Carlin, but do you hate George as well? Do you think that he deserves the sort of emotions that he's feeling at the minute. Evelyn. If you were in love with Carlin..." Her friend trailed off, and Evelyn felt a little sick. "Surely you know what heartbreak feels like. Do you want someone else to also feel this? Share your pain? If yes, then, to be honest, I don't want anything to do with you anymore." Ouch. Ameila would really start being friends with her? Deep down, Evelyn didn't blame her one bit. They hadn't been getting along at all recently. Ameila was furious at Evelyn and Evelyn was pissed at her. Silence filled the library. Evelyn bit down hard on her tongue. She really didn't need another reason for Ameila to be upset with her. Ameila was the best friend she'd ever had. She ignored everyone else around her, she pulled Ameila to a far corner in the library, away from the audience. "Am," she whispered. "Please, please don't be mad at me. I hate that we're fighting. You know I do. But.." She bit her lip and leaned against the nearest bookshelf. "You have no idea how much she hurt me. She broke my arm!" She held up her right arm momentarily. "And worse than that, she broke my heart." She smiled sadly at her. "I know this is wrong of me. But I need to finish this. You don't understand what it feels like, Am. You don't know how much it hurts to have the one you love break your heart. Do you?" She felt her a lump forming in her throat. She couldn't cry now. "She probably doesn't even care about what she did to me," she spat. "I-if you don't want to be friends with me, I completely understand. This isn't right, I know that. But I'm finally standing up for myself." She patted Amelia on the arm and took off back toward the middle of the library, not wanting to hear Amelia breaking off their friendship. As soon as she returned to the others, Carlin was on her case. I should have written out my will before doing this. She would never admit it, but even though she was starting to stand up for herself, Carlin still frightened her. Just a tad.
"I've been too soft on you haven't I?" Too soft? Um, no. She bristled, hands automatically curling into fists. "Didn't screw you hard enough, did I? Your messed up families are a secret...but not me? tsk tsk." Oh, she was going to play the foster kid card? Bitch. She crossed her arms and once again, hoisted herself up on the table. Her dark eyes were trained on the girl in front of her. "I really should get myself checked out, huh?" she asked, like Carlin hadn't spoken at all. "If you lie down with dogs, you'll wake up with fleas. If someone lies down with you, well..." She shrugged a shoulder and shot her a saucy grin. "You seem a little testy. What's wrong, sweetheart? Did you just find out that you won't get paid for the week?" Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Valkyrie Dolohov come up to them. "What's going on here? Zach pissed that you didn't give him what he wanted?" Oh, what was this? Her eyes flashed to the aforementioned Raven. "The slut and the manwhore? Interesting." Her gaze fell back on the two girls. "You mean he actually turned you down? What a pity." She smirked at Valkyrie. "Is she your new toy?" She eyed Valkyie up and down quickly. "You're into animals now? Huh." She ran a hand through her hair. "To each their own, right?" Okay, she was asking for it. From Aimee. George. Carlin. Meissa. Ameila. And now Valkyrie. She definitely wouldn't live to graduate. "But there's one thing you can't deny, Carlin. Know what that is?" Not waiting for either girl to respond, she said,"You can't deny the fact that you told me you were in love me." Then, she walked past them and stopped in front of George. "I'm sorry for putting you through this in front of everyone," she said softly. "It was cruel, I know. But you needed to know." She sighed and fiddled with her bracelet. "You deserve better, George. You deserve so much better than Carlin."
