There was nothing in this world that could bring her down. Nope nope...nothing could ever bring her down anymore. Carlin had never felt so happy in her life and there wasn't a moment when that smile wasn't plastered on her face. If she was one to laugh and skip...that's exactly what she would be doing considering the person in her head seemed to be doing just that. Every thought of everyone besides George was out of her head. All she thought about was how it was all just perfect to be with him and how his lips felt on her. They had waited so long...she had begged so long...all those nights she cried herself to sleep and all those sleepless nights she spent storming down empty corridors...everything had come down to this...this one moment when all was just perfect. She couldn't ask for more...she wouldn't ask for anything more. They spent every other day together but left each others arms to spend the night in different beds. Carlin wasn't sure why she kept doing it...but it did seem like she was the one that was trying to be careful. It made her wonder if George would ever get the wrong idea. She was just glad to see how he didn't seem to push her at all. They'd share a passionate kiss and their hands would wander...but that was as far as either of them took it. They seemed to have drawn a line for themselves and they were determined to take it slow. At least, Carlin was. She was too afraid of messing it all up again...too afraid of it seeming too sexual and physical...too afraid they'd suddenly realize they didn't really love each other but just lusted for each other. That would just kill her...and somehow, she had convinced herself that she'd rather live in oblivion than know what they have isn't what they thought they had.

Taking a deep breath she hugged her cardigan clad self as she walked out onto the grounds. It was March and the weather was just getting wetter by the day...still cold and very wet. The gloomy air around her just didn't seem to bother her too much. The one thing she wished she didn't have to do was head on down to the greenhouses to track the growth of the belladonna. She had completely forgotten about the essay until George brought it up this morning. Grumbling at being greeted like that she had dragged her feet down to the grounds almost instantly. No matter how much she grumbled and how she hated the fact that he pushed her so much Carlin just didn't mind it. There was no way anyone could ever get her to do her work...but George seemed to be able to. As much as it stung a part of her ego...the girl seemed completely fine with the fact that the boy had complete control over her. Pushing open the door she slipped into the greenhouse and moved over to the spot where she had had her plant. Bending over it and letting her mind wander over to George and what he might be doing...she hadn't heard someone else enter and walk up right behind her just as she turned towards the long table to grab a small knife.

The shrieks of laughter from the younger children echoed through the quiet grounds. If anyone knew where she was, they would think that she had gone crazy. Evelyn was nestled in a tree, hidden from anyone else on the snowy ground by the many branches. Her legs were propped up on a branch and she was leaning back against the trunk. She pulled her white and gray scarf tighter around her neck. It was cold, but she was dressed in enough layers to keep semi-warm. Her matching gloves and hat went well with her dark gray peacock coat. She loved it up here. No one would bother her. She could just sit up here and people-watch. Right now, two young boys were trying to beat each other with large sticks. A few girls, roughly around the same age as the boys, were busy making snow angels. Above her head, a bird started to chirp loudly and Evelyn shut her eyes. She thought of Hunter. He still had no idea who she was. Her biological parents must have never talked about her. Hell, they didn't even care about her. She thought of the many foster homes she lived in. Her foster siblings. Savannah. Billy. Tim. Memories of Sam and Natalie flaed through her mind. Were they all okay? Were they all still alive? She had no idea. Sighing, she opened her eyes. The young kids were still playing out on the grounds. But there was a new person walking in her direction. Dark eyes narrowed sharply. Carlin.

Hate. Love. Which emotion was stronger? Evelyn didn't know. She hated Carlin for what she did to her. How she had used her. She had gotten Evelyn to trust her. To open up to her. The Badger had conned her into doing her homework for her. She had tricked her into running a whole bunch of errands for her. She had broken her damn arm. And even worse- her heart. But there was the side of Evelyn that was still very much in love with the girl. Her smile. Her laugh. The stunning blue eyes. Evelyn had truly believed that Carlin loved her. That she wanted to be with her. It was all a bunch of rubbish. Evelyn turned her head and watched as Carlin headed toward the Greenhouses. Smirking, her hand wrapped around a thin branch and she jumped down, landing gracefully on her feet and startling one of the young boys. She put a finger to her lips, an indication to keep quiet. The boy gave her a confused look but nodded and returned to beating his friend's legs with a stick. Shaking her head, Evelyn set her gaze back on the Badger. She followed her quietly. Why the hell was Carlin going to the Greenhouses? After Carlin walked inside, Evelyn waited a few minutes before slipping in and shutting the door silently behind her.

Damn, it was cold. Her dark eyes quickly scanned area for Carlin. She spotted her bent over something. Smirking, she walked up behind her and crossed her arms over her chest. Carlin's hand went for a small knife. "So, are you finally going to kill me? Planning to stab me with that knife?" She slipped around Carlin and hoisted herself up onto the table. "Or are you waiting to smother me with a pillow to avoid a mess?" She turned her hand over and inspected her manicured nails. She raised her eyes to meet Carlin's. Oh, Merlin. Carlin's blue eyes were so intense. Stop it, Evelyn, she scolded herself. "You're pretty fucked up in the head, do you realize this? You purposely broke my arm," she spat venomously. "Well, darling, your little game is over."

"So, are you finally going to kill me? Planning to stab me with that knife?" the voice startles her making her fall forward and suddenly turn around leaning against the table she was near. "Oh...Evelyn!" she let out a breath not even realizing she actually said the girls' name and even forgetting how their last encounter had been like. Her days revolved around George completely and she had no thought for anyone else. They were together most of the time and when they weren't she wished they were...and she probably was just doing stuff he had told her to do so that they could spend more time together. The amount of work she put into studies now was just ridiculous...it probably equalled all the work she had ever done in the past five years at school. Staring up at the girls angry and cold eyes Carlin tried to ease up the tension with a half grin as she pulled herself up and moved away from in between the girl and the table. The knife, she held backwards so as not to scrape either of them, was thrown into the pot she was examining for the time being. It was only after her next words that Carlins' grin fell and a frown creased her brow. Raising her eyes and cocking her head the words that left her lips were ones that were said without a moment of thought "Why would I do that, silly?" she laughed moving over to the pot and poking the knife in and checking the wetness of the soil and how deep the roots were. It would weird for anyone who did know Carlin to see her doing something like this. She usually would have waited for any kind of distraction to get her away from studying or doing anything regarding studies. Today, however, her mind seemed to be set. Curling her lips and cringing her nose she muttered under her breath not even acknowledging Evelyns' seething glare. "Do you know how to do this? What am I supposed to be looking for?" she cocked her head simply poking in the soil expecting something to just happen and surprise her. "Weird..." she made a face staring down at the still plant as if it was supposed to be doing something. "You're pretty fucked up in the head, do you realize this?" Carlin giggled looking up at her. "Come on...not everyones' smart..." she started off but was quickly interrupted by the rest of Evelyns' sentence. As realization dawned upon her; her eyes fell down to the girls' arm and she swallowed the lump in her throat. Oh... was all she could think as she tried to find the words to speak to the girl. She somehow didn't find the heart to be angry to even acknowledge the anger in Evelyn. She was so happy...her heart was dancing no matter what and that smile seemed to radiate on her face even though her lips weren't curled up.

"Well, darling, your little game is over." brought a little smirk to her face. "Oh come on, now..." she turned to look away from the girl and back to fiddling with the knife and the soil. "...you deserved it. I warned you, didn't I? Thrice, I think?" she looked over her shoulder occassionally as she spoke just to get her point across. There was no anger in her voice...just indifference. She couldn't get herself to care about Evelyn or any of her drama any more. It had been entertaining...but now she was just plain happy with George and she couldn't have anyone messing that up. She probably should be nicer and get the girl to calm down soon...and hell, she can't find out about George and her; or that little scene she had created at the night of the dance would be such a waste. She sure as hell didn't want a smarter Evelyn...no no, that just would make life too difficult. "You shouldn't have told your friend...I told you I'm not comfortable and wanted it kept a secret. You somehow don't understand how that works." she ran the knife up the length of the plant absent-mindedly. "And...I don't want to kill you!" she laughed making a face and holding up the knife. "Just want to teach you to keep your trap shut...you sure do love to wag that tongue of yours and its going to put us in quite an embarrassing light if you keep at it." she had turned to face the girl now. "There's no game played...just lessons taught. I work hard on keeping our secret..." Carlin swallowed as the image of Zach falshed before her eyes. The thought was simply nauseating...but it was true anyhow...she did work to keep them a secret..."you should too..." she added shrugging her shoulders and dropping the knife onto the table. "Now...help me with this." she grabbed her book and held it out "What am I supposed to do?" she asked as thought the change in subject was completely natural...the tension between them ignored fully.

Handler's note: I have permission to mod.

"Why would I do that, silly?" Evelyn snorted. Because you're a psychotic? She watched Carlin push the knife into the pot. "Do you know how to do this? What am I supposed to be looking for?" Of course she knew what to do. It wasn't hard. Well, for someone like Evelyn. Carlin wasn't even listening to her. She just kept talking about her stupid plant. The Lion's glare only darkened as Carlin told her that she deserved to have her arm broken. No, she did not deserve it. "I don't care how many times you told me, Carlin. Bloody hell, you don't just break someone's arm!" she snapped, gripping the edge of the table to relax. She really couldn't believe that she had been so stupid at first. Why hadn't she just stayed away from Carlin the night she had talked to Kalmera? None of this would have happened had she just listened to her. But Evelyn was stubborn. She didn't want to believe that Carlin was capable of doing that to her. "And...I don't want to kill you!" Carlin's voice pulled Evelyn back to reality and the Badger held up the knife. "No, you just want to break the bones in my body," Evelyn replied cooly. Finally, the other girl turned away from her plant and met Evelyn's gaze. "Just want to teach you to keep your trap shut...you sure do love to wag that tongue of yours and its going to put us in quite an embarrassing light if you keep at it." Excuse me? A wry smirk spread across glossy lips. "You're really not intelligent at all, hm? I don't 'wag my tongue' as you put it. I think you meant to say was,'You sure do love to talk and it's going to put us in quite an embarrassing light if you keep at it." She sighed and ran her manicured nails through her silky dark hair. "Then again, I've done your homework for you. I've corrected mistakes. I shouldn't have expected you to be able to speak using proper English. That's too much for you to do, huh?" The rest of Carlin's words went ignored by the bruntte until she dropped the knife on the table and held out book, demanding that Evelyn help her. "What am I supposed to do?" The brunette's glare hardend. "Shove it up your arse, you ignorant tramp."

Evelyn was so sick of Carlin never taking her seriously. She hadn't even apologized for breaking her arm. She didn't even take her to the Hospital Wing. Carlin had been treating Evelyn like crap since the night she had snuck into her room. The petite Lion shut her eyes briefly as the memory flashed through her mind. No, she wouldn't think about how Carlin had made her feel that night. Or any of the other times she had been 'sweet' and 'loving' wit her. It had all been a ruse. Her dark eyes fell on the knife and a small grin appeared on her lips. She reached out and grabbed the handle. She gently took the book from Carlin. Smirking, she plunged the blade of the knife deep into the middle of Carlin's book. "Oh, silly me. Sorry," she apologized in a sickly-sweet tone. Evelyn then tossed it behind her, hearing the thud as it landed. Without warning, her arm shot out and she grabbed a fistful of the other girl's top and yanked her forward, leaping off the table and slamming the other girl on it. "I can't believe I didn't realize this sooner. You're such a fucking btich," she hissed. She pulled out her wand with her free hand and pushed the tip of it into the soft flesh of Carlin's neck. "I am done being pushed around by you. I'm done being your little puppet." She locked Carlin's legs together with her own and pressed her elbow deep into Carlin's stomach, using the rest of her body to pin her down so Carlin couldn't move. "I hate you, Carlin. Don't you ever come near me again. Don't talk to me. Don't look at me. Don't even think about me." She smirked and ran her wand down her neck. "Do you understand, or am I going to have to dumb down simple orders for you?"

Carlin simply rolled her eyes and held back a smirk when the stupid little know-it-all went on to correct something she had said. She was barely listening and simply continued on with her words soon after; not even bothering to acknowledge what she had to say. She always went on about grammar and some crap that Carlin barely ever cared about. Hell, if you understood what she said that was just more than enough. You didn't need to go by the book for everything. The little bitch sure as hell didn't go by the book with who she liked to screw; girl on girl just wasn't a norm was it? The half grin and half smirk on her face continued to dance as the two girls seemed to ignore each others words. She didn't know what Evelyn was doing but her thoughts were suddenly immersed on the plant itself. If it had been anyone else that ordered her to finish her homework before they met up she'd have bailed on them and told them to fuck off...but George; she listened to. A genuine smile lifted her lips as her thoughts moved on to him. How she loved that boy...her heart just ached at the thought. The emotions that welled inside of her were immense and it was no comparison to what she had ever felt for anyone...ever. Her mind was suddenly pulled back to reality by a soft shuffling noise and she remembered Evelyn was standing by there. Picking up her book she shoved it at her and asked her to help her with it absent-mindedly. She really didn't care. The arm she broke or the threats she gave...how rude she was; Carlin didn't give a damn about how Evelyn felt. Sure...she did grow feelings for her at some point and they just came and went as they pleased...but that didn't mean she really cared enough to worry when the bitch was hurt. She didn't. She could care less about what her actions did to her...she never bothered and she never would. The loud and sudden retort that rang in her ears made her jump and laugh out loud. Looking at the girl with her brows quirked and her face lit up in a comical surprise she stood there staring for a long moment before she said anything. "Fithy mouth you go there...hang around with Ellington a lot these days?" she laughed and turned back to her plant...bending over and trailing a finger under the leaves.

More laughter rang through the greenhouse when she felt the girl grabbed the book from her hand and drive the knife right through the center. "What the hell is wrong you, bitch?" she continued laughing watching the book fall behind her. "I needed that, you know...now you are going to rewrite it all for me!" But as soon as the words were out of her mouth she was caught offgaurd by Evelyns' sudden movements...grabbing her and throwing her onto the table...pinning her down driving her elbow into her sides. "Oww bitch...that hurts!" she groaned "What the fuck is wrong with you!" she snapped back as the girl continued to speak about how she was not going to take shit from Carlin ever again or let her be used and pushed around. "owww oww...alright, girl! Just get off of me, okay!" she tried to push away the girl but she simply drove herself down on her and pressed against her harder as she continued to protest. "You bitch!" she shouted trying to free her hands and at least grab at the girls' hair for some sort of control...but it looked like the girl had all her limbs covered; even her freaking legs. The "I hate you, Carlin!" brought more laughter to her lips and she tried to ignore the pain that was rushing through her body as she listened to the girls' words. The laughter never died until the girl stopped talking...once she had; Carlin levelled her eyes with hers and lifted her lips in a smirk. The tip of the wand driving into her neck made it hard to swallow but she didn't let any of it bother her. Shuffling her hand under her slightly and trying to loosen her legs ever so slowly she spoke coolly "I didn't come to you all this week...I didn't bother you...if I'm not mistaken, you just walked right up to me now and asked for trouble." Freeing one of her feet slightly she rubbed it up and down the girls calves. "You hate me, eh?" she smirked breathing over her lips only noticing now how close they really were. She licked her lips slowly...purposefully brushing against hers and staring up into her eyes. "Doesn't look like it my love...I bet your wet for me already..." she whispered not breaking the tension created between them. "And darling...I do not take orders...but then again, you already know that don't you."
