Valkyrie sat in the library with her feet propped up on the table with a book in hand. Her hand reached up to turn the page slowly when her eyes met the last word on the page. After having to hear more and more about Zach and his precious girlfriend from her roommates, she had decided that it was better if she just went somewhere else. She didn't know that it was just gossip. What she did know was that every time she heard his name, she was tempted to hurl a book at something. She knew that he had just played her just as she had suspected from the beginning and that only served to fuel her anger even more. Blowing up and throwing a little tantrum in front of them wouldn't have been worth it. She was supposed to act calm and in control of herself. Just like she was pretending now. Her eyes pretending to read the words as they moved back and forth over the page, more out of habit then anything else. They moved at a regular pace over every line and every word. Val knew that she was reading some Charms book, but she didn't know what it was that she was actually reading it. The words went in and out of her mind as quickly as they had come in.
It gave her something to do and something to hold onto at least. The library could never be listed as one of her favorite places, but neither could it be listed on anyone she knew's list. This way the likelihood of someone she knew approaching her was lower. Dez probably wouldn't be caught dead in a place like this. After their little spat outside by the Quidditch Pitch, Valkyrie had avoided being anywhere near him. It had been surprising to hear that even after everything, somehow he still loved her as his baby cousin. The one that he believed was misguided and all the other bull that he had said about her. Thinking that it was wrong to keep those damned Mudbloods in line. He had grown soft on her. Now Dez was more open about his feelings and what not. His blood might still be pure, but his mind was just as tainted as the rest of them. He loved her still. She wasn't sure if she felt the same way. Her hand reached up to absentmindedly turn the page when she heard a noise from behind her. Immediately, she froze. Valkyrie didn't turn around, but she waited to hear the footsteps go in a different direction. Past her, around her, hopefully just not towards her.

((This is sometime around March 19...is that alright?))
Carlin didn't really feel like relying on Evelyn anymore. Hell, she had just broken her arm and stormed out on her. She hadn't even seen the girl ever since and even better, George and her were together again. She didn't want anything messed up. She didn't want anything to go wrong. Deciding to push Evelyn away from her thoughts completely she was now browsing through the library quite reluctantly. For some reason, George was just always insistent about getting her stuff done before they could cuddle and talk every night. He always asked...what she ate, what she did, whether she was done with work. As annoying answering each and every question was Carlin had grown a liking towards the possessiveness. Her groutchy self would have shoved him aside and asked him to mind his own business...or she woul dhave just climbed onto his lap and kissed the questions away. But the two were taking it slow...it wasn't explicity agreed...but it was all there in their actions. As much as they yearned for each other they seemed to have some sort of fear of loosing the other. After all, they had waited a long time to be together like this...they couldn't just go around and screw it up already. It had been four days. Four wonderfully perfect days and Carlin couldn't be happier. Her face literally glowed and her blue eyes sparkled. It wasn't so evident because of her dull looks overall...but it was just hard to miss seeing how emotionless she always seemed to be. Smiling to herself she ran her finger over the titles of the books picking up two she thought would help. Darn spellwork essays were just too much trouble...she could barely pronounce the things she was being taught now. She really didn't want to waste her time with George filling him with questions about course work...no; it didn't matter. As long as she had done it...he was fine with it.
Throwing in the books she had taken out earlier onto a rack she walked out with the two new books frowning down at the cover page. Bloody hell...how was she to read all of this by the evening. Groaning inwardly she found herself wishing she was a bit more competent with studies. She didn't know why she never tried...but it all just seemed so boring and that was the only excuse she had. And now...she was trying but she really didn't want to be. It was so much of trouble for someone who's never cared to pretend that they care. Walking past someone sitting at a table with their legs up on the table she shut the book and looked up...the corner of her eyes catching a familiarity in the figure beside her making her turn to them. "Val!" she exclaimed happily only to be hushed by the librarian instantly. Laughing softly she climbed onto the table seating herself facing Val...that unusual smile on her face never leaving. "What are you doing here? Never thought I'd find in the library...what are you reading?" she added leaning in and trying to peer into the book she held in her hands.

((That's fine.))
One of the few times that she had ever opened up to and acted openly with ended up being just a hot headed arse. Just like she had originally suspected, he was just trying to charm her into his bed. Her mother had been right, she could do better. There were plenty of pureblood good looking guys in her house that she could talk to. Her roommates liked to talk about them all the time. If only Val found it easier to open up to people and talk to people like they did. Her trust was guarded with the utmost security. If her own family would rather stand against her, then who was stopping the people that would be her 'friends'? Speaking of people she could consider her friends, the noise turned out to be Carlin. The girl had showed up on her doorstep out of no where over the break and they hadn't really seen each other since. In Valkyrie's book, she was probably the closest thing that she had to a friend. "Val!" The librarian hushed her, but she was sure that that wouldn't stop her. Sure enough, Carlin climbed on the table to look at her and the book that she was supposedly reading. "What are you doing here? Never thought I'd find in the library...what are you reading?" Exactly. Pretty much the only kind of friend that she had.
Val pulled the book closer to herself with a grin at the other girl. She was surprised to see the other girl here just as surprised she probably was to see her here. If she was going to a party, which she wouldn't, that's where she would expect to see the party queen. In the library, the quieter Dolohov made more sense then she did. "Charms book." she said truthfully even though she didn't know just what Charms book it was. Her feet remained on the table where they had been before as she leaned back in her seat so she was on the back two legs. It must be a strange sight to see the two of them in the library together and indeed, someone walking by, Val noticed that they glanced at the two of them. "I'm reading, Carlin. You know, that thing you do with books instead of just using them as a shelf for your stuff." she grinned with at teasing glint in her eye. Then she put her feet down and came to a loud crash as all four legs landed on the floor. The librarian gave her a scathing look that she simply returned before turning her attention back to Carlin. "What are you doing here?" she asked. At least this was a little bit more interesting then pretending to read a book. A real conversation.

"I'm reading, Carlin. You know, that thing you do with books instead of just using them as a shelf for your stuff." Rolling her eyes Carlin laughed a little too loudly and then covered her mouth with her hand glancing back at the librarian. "Ohh...aren't you funny." she said and then held out the books in her hand "And I am actully going to read these!" she dropped them onto the table and just watched the girl rocking back and forth before crashing down loudly. She didn't seem like she was in the best of moods and well, Carlin didn't expect her to be. She had chosen Ellington for godssakes...Ellington out of all the people in the castle. Her stomach sank at the thought of him and that little proposition they had but she pushed it away thinking it was alright since she hadn't been with George...and Val and Ellington were long done before that. The knot in her stomach only tightened even though she was trying to convince herself it had been alright. Chewing on her lip she hoped her face didn't shop the sudden change in her demeanour...her grin was back up but slightly half-heartedly. The two had shared quite a bit over the summer...but with all the tears and anger that had filled in Carlin ever since they got onto the train she had steered clear from the girl. They probably did tell each other things but where never ones to have a heart to heart and share a hug. It was just too odd. Carlin had never been one to need it...but now things were just different. Val, however, was still the same which made it harder. "Ohh...just gathering up stuff to write an essay!" she groaned softly patting the books on the table. "I can't believe George has got me finishing up my homework almost every other day." she laughed softly...a slight shade of pink rising in her cheeks.
This would be the first time she spoke of George to anyone after they got back...and the feeling that rose within her was quite evident. She would soon be gushing and cooing about the boy if she didn't hold it back...and surely, Val wouldn't want to hear of it after her time with Ellington. But really...Carlin had tried her best to just listen to her talk about the boy; but she couldn't help but hint at how he was just an asshole and she should just listen to her mother. She had been glad with her decision...but not happy about how she was shut off along with that jerk. "We're together now..." she said shyly biting down on her lower lip "The past months haven't been great...but now, everythings better. A whole lot better." she gleamed happily but suddenly felt guilt rushing through her veins at the sight of Val's expression. It seemed so inconsiderate to just go on about George and her...although she really didn't feel like doing anything but that. She suddenly felt the urge to just jabber on about how wonderful things were and how everything just works out perfectly even after the long wait. But she held her tongue... "But you still look like you need cheering up....he's not worth it, Val..." she said carefully afraid she'd be stepping in dangerous waters. "You can do way better..."

Even while the librarian was giving them funny looks, Valkyrie couldn't have cared less. If she got kicked out, then so be it. It wasn't as if she needed to impress anyone with proper manners right now. She wouldn't have cared before and she was already in a bad enough mood that she certainly wasn't going to care now. "Ohh...aren't you funny." Then she held the books out to her. "And I am actully going to read these!" She gave Carlin a questioning look as she came crashing back down in her chair to the ground. She didn't honestly believe that she was actually going to read them, but the girl could always pretend if she wanted too. Pre-Zach Valkyrie would have simply shrugged it off without caring. It wasn't like she was really the type to judge anyways since she was doing the same thing anyways. Post-Zach Valkyrie was actually willing to have a bit of a conversation with people. So she asked why Carlin was here. "Ohh...just gathering up stuff to write an essay! I can't believe George has got me finishing up my homework almost every other day." Ah George. While not an avid listener to the grapevine, she had hear enough from the other girl to know who she was talking about. That Lowden kid that she had mentioned before.
"We're together now..." Was she... blushing? Bloody hell what had he done to her? It was the first time that she had ever seen the girl she had dubbed Flirt Queen to blush over a boy without following the sentence with how hot he was. "The past months haven't been great...but now, everythings better. A whole lot better." While she might have been smiling, Val's expression got a little darker. She didn't want to hear about how well someone else's love life was going perfectly when hers might as well be going down the tube. "But you still look like you need cheering up....he's not worth it, Val..." Ah now she was rubbing it in. Her expression flared in anger. She could have easily snapped and said something about how George would probably be like the rest of the male population and turn his back on her. That's all boys were. Traitors and back-stabbers anyways. she said carefully afraid she'd be stepping in dangerous waters. "You can do way better..." The deflated Valkyrie a bit. It made her a least a little bit less angry knowing that there was someone on her side. She didn't have anyone to tell her that before this and all she had heard was that Zach hated her for it. But Carlin could tell that it was bothering her anyways and she couldn't have that. "I'm not bothered by whatever Zach is doing. He can flirt and sleep with any girl he wants." She had been hoping for a more aloof tone, but probably sounded just a little bit jealous. "I knew he was just trying to get me into bed with him anyways, I'm not that stupid." She gave a smile and then took a deep breath. Val was going to need it as she forced herself to give a smile that could win an award for how genuine it looked. "Now tell me more about you and George." Something else to think about perhaps.

((sigh...sorry; I lost the mood half way through and had to force myself to write happy! :$))
Carlin didn't noticed the momentary anger that flared in Val but she didn't miss that flicker in her eyes as she had said that Val could do much better than Ellington. Of course she could. That boy was filth...but Carlin wasn't going to tell Val that. No matter how much she hated him right now she was sure the girl would get quite defensive about him...and Carlin, well, she really wouldn't go soft and agree with her. Oh no no...not about Ellington. She hated that boy with a passion and there would be no one that could change her mind about him. "I'm not bothered by whatever Zach is doing. He can flirt and sleep with any girl he wants." Carlin managed a strained smile at those words as she swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. Sure...there wasn't anything between the boy and her; but they had had that awkward and very strange day locked in that empty classroom. Her skin crawled as she thought of that day...she had scrubbed her skin and washed her mouth a million times after that day. She felt so disgusted having his hands move over her body and their lips against each others. She still didn't understand why she had found it alright at that point to go ahead and do it. Hell...up until then he hadn't any created trouble and she could have just let it go...she didn't know why she had to be so protective of their secret...of her secret. She didn't want George to find out...yes. But...she sighed inwardly knowing that she had done it for a reason and a part of her still believed the reason was valid although the rest of her was simply disgusted. After the ugly Ellington-Lowden showdown there was bound to be harsh words thrown at each other...she couldn't risk him going around and telling George about her and Evelyn...no noo. Vals words were drowned in her thoughts until she heard the name George; pulling her attention back.
A smile immediately lit up her face which she bit back once again...shyly. The feelings that rushed through her at the mention of George took her aback just like it would anyone else around her. She was surprised at the intensity of everything she was feeling...so odd; for her. "Ohh...well..." she started rubbing her hands together looking down. "Ahhh.." she laughed at herself quite nervously and climbed back properly on the table. "See what he does to me?" she continued laughing not knowing what exactly to say. "Haa...I feel so silly...George and I; well...we are perfect together." she smiled looking up at her for just a moment before she moved her eyes down to her feet which she continued to kick back and forth. "It's odd most of the times because it doesn't feel like me, you know...I'm not that way...and after my emotions going from like to loathe to love...it's a bloody rush!" her voice grew louder at her last words and laughter erupted. "It feels good..." she finally looked up at the young girl suddenly realizing how thoughtless she had been to just talk about how perfect she was feeling with George. Nicee...and now I'm back to being the person I am. she thought guilty. Somehow, it was only George who made her that better person...she was still quite an ass with anyone else. "I guess it shows how things don't just happen overnight..." she leaned forwards and laid a hand on hers "...guess you got to try out several sides of yourself before you find the person who brings out your best...he'll be the one. You'll find him." she slowly said putting words together carefully. Having got George now there was a new optimisim within her; her words were not lies.
