The gleaming white blonde hair. Those cold blue-grey eyes. Almost milky white skin that stood out against any crowd. Meissa Malfoy was probably one girl who brought his weakness for the women to its' height. There really wasn't any girl Kevin respected or admired more than her. The way her chin was always up and those feature barren of any emotions actually amused him. He could sit there and watch her silence and solitude for hours together and never be bored. The effect the girl had on him was obviously overlooked by her and as much as it filled his insides he always seemed to push it away knowing well how she really was. Everything about her and all of her emotions and feelings were locked up within herself and the key tucked away even deeper for no one to find. Even if they did run along similar circles they never seemed to have had more than the necessary conversation. It was always to the point and nothing more. Why the girl still appealed to him so much was still a wonder. But he did watch her, stare at her and notice every little detail she did whenever he did see her around the castle. The way she spoke to the first years, the way she scoffed at the mudbloods, the way she smirked almost all the time...those nervous laughs; nothing was missed by him. If he hadn't been swimming in his pride and she didn't have a heart set in stone he probably would have at least tried out a relationship with her. The thought of it almost made him shudder right then...it simply wasn't Meissa and for some weird reason, over the years, he had learned to accept it.
Right now, eying her seated in a corner of the study hall with her head bent over a book Kevin wanted to walk right up and talk to her. Have her eyes narrow up at him and then relax like they always did...hear those few words that would leave her lips. He could just join in pretending to be studying and enjoy her silent company. But no; it really wasn't that easy anymore. He wasn't Kevin. And he really had no clue how she would have been with Keith. It would be odd for her to actually like him especially because of his love for muggles and well...just everything about him. Keith seemed to be someone that would annoy her or maybe not even get detected by her radar. He couldn't help but let out a soft groan at the thought; wondering if he should just find a seat which gave him a good view of her and sit by and stare. Pushing it off as stupid and strange he made his way towards her. Maybe he could just be himself with her....maybe she'd just assume he was Kevin himself and treat him the very same way. Sure, his casual dressing didn't exactly scream out Kevin but there was very little that was different. Maybe she wouldn't even know Keith existed and acknowledge him the way she always did. Bah; they were all just hopes. The slight stench of smoke and the way he was clean shaved clearly told anyone in the room this wasn't the cold, dark boy that made almost everyone around him loath him; but the sweet, studios one that stayed in his corner and spread his wide smile like flu. Bending over her he whispered in his low, gruff tone not bothering to make his tone sound the least bit like Keith. Keith didn't deserve Meissa. Funny, because Kevin wasn't getting her anyway. Dead to her...dead to the world. "Studying all by your lonesome self..." was all he said and it just didn't seem right. As Keith or as himself.

Meissa sat completely oblivious to the world surrounding her. All the thoughts in her mind revolved around one thing: homework. That was the benefit of having a brain that excelled in compartmentalizing. When successful, the white haired girl had the capacity to block out the distractions in her life and focus on the task at hand. So after enduring a rather drawn out defense against the dark arts class, she found herself bogged with the resulting essay assignment. The whole idea of that class did admittedly bother her. What did they expect to have the students learn by merely presenting them with hypothetical situations and having them write about it? Nothing in the world prepared a person for an attack other than experience. The dementor attack on the post-Christmas train ride had indeed proved that fact to the Raven. Unfortunately, Patronus Academy clearly overlooked this tidbit of information when planning the remainder of the years lessons. Those thoughts, each and every one of them, were shoved into a deep crevice. If she wanted to have free time tonight she hadn't the time now for a wondering mind. Even with the displeasure of the assignment lingering in the pits of her brain, here she sat slaving away. Meissa would not have been Meissa if she acted in any other manner. Her innate need to be the best at everything she did, the need to turn trash into treasure, exploded onto the pages in the form of neatly compressed cursive. The only breaks she allowed herself came in the form of research. Occasionally, Meissa set her quill down and dived into the world contained within her textbook.
Mid-transition from book to parchment, Meissa latched onto a distinguishable feeling. Somebody was watching her. With a slow gaze she allowed her eyes to leave her school work and take a scan of the room. They fell on the body of a boy who obviously was making it his duty to insert himself into her presence. Meissa's eyes traveled up the person's body, slightly surprised when they landed on a familiar face. Well, no, that wasn't an entirely accurate description of what she found. The boy had the look of another boy she once knew, a friend, a ghost. Kevin Walker. But Meissa knew the similarities to be false. Kevin had fallen victim in the attack. Dead. Everybody in their group had come to terms with that. "Studying all by your lonesome self..." His words reached her about the same time his body did. With her infamous barren eyes, she looked him over. "It's by choice. I like being by myself," she retorted easily. "It's easier to focus." The truth in her words was clear. Meissa had friends that she enjoyed spending time with. Some more than others. But that didn't mean she needed to spend every waking hour in the company of another. That sort of weakness was not something she possessed. "So, not Kevin, did you need something? I'm rather busy and if you only wish to continue staring...well there's plenty of other places to do so from." The girl's words weren't meant to be cold. They took on a more curious tone as to why after all of these years of schooling, he would approach her freely. Why after years of knowing she was friends with his brother, he needed to meet her now. And maybe it was rude not to call him by name. Meissa held a great deal of knowledge that filled nearly every inch of her person. She knew his name was Keith, she just wasn't sure if she cared.

Kevin bit back the smirk that he wished to lift his lips in the moment Meissa lifted her eyes to him. It probably took someone as dark as him to see the beauty in those emotionless eyes...but he saw it. To him those icy blue eyes spoke so much more than the softness and warmth in any others. The way her lips moved as she spoke back easily brought a smile to his face. He didn't stop it. Keith would have smiled, wouldn't he? He always smiles. "True that..." he simply said looking over to her right wondering whether he should just seat himself by her side. It really wasn't the best spot to be by her. He wouldn't really be able to see her...and if he did look; she'd catch him. Not like she wouldn't have noticed anyway. Just standing there at the entrance he knew she knew. He always knew she sensed it. Her mind seemed always so free that everything about her surroundings would have been enhanced...and Kevin loved being a part of it. "Not Kevin" she addressed him and again all he could do was smile at that. It did tug at his heart that she didn't recognize him but then again no one would expect Kevin to be back. They all thought he had been taken away during the attack. Assumed dead although never found. His death hadn't been witnessed by any, of course...but there were those select few friends who knew he was out of the castle before the darkness hit. Them...he hadn't spotted around the academy yet and he dreaded having to approach them with this lie. He wasn't going to...not when it meant that he'd be dragged back into their lairs where he'd be forced to do the unthinkable. A darkness shadowed his eyes at the memory but soon shut them to push it back to where it belonged...at the back of his head. They couldn't do anything to Keith. He was Keith. They wouldn't even bother with him...he was nothing to them; nothing unlike Kevin. Kevin was dead.
"Well, you could help me catch up with my work if you don't mind..." he gestured to the rolls of parchment in his hand. "Missed the whole of last term and the stack of things to do is really not pretty." he groaned rolling the parchment towards the seat opposite her and quickly moving around the table and seating himself there. Meissa was still Meissa; he felt his breath get held up somewhere in the middle as he took her in. What an effect that girl had on him. Anyone who found out would laugh their heads off. Malfoy and the darker Walker...it sure did seem like a joke. Hell, to imagine this girl with any boy seemed completely ridiculous but somehow Kevin remained untouched by any of it. Rolling his parchment open he frowned down at half of the essay he had scribbled down trying to decipher his own writing. His handwriting clearly not as neat as Keiths' showing his completely disregard to all things academic. "Hmmm...the animagus one..." muttered and raised his eyes to hers grinning "I'm feeling dull; help me with it?" he asked pulling out a pen from the pocket of his jacket. The thin little writing tools, once he began using it since Keith did all the time, had him intrigued. There was no hassle of ink running out or smudging the parchment and creating a mess. As much as he'd have scoffed at the muggle item before he had grown into it for the time being. "You should use these sometimes..." he gestured to her knowing full well how she'd react to it. It would be amusing; he decided before he went on to say "...real handy muggle invention called a pen." handing it over to her. Laughing on the inside he studied her expression...the grin on his face wide.
