This girl was sobbing again. What the hell was wrong with her? She jumped out of her seat and hugged Hunter, as if she had found some long-lost family member or something. He reluctantly hugged her back, not wanting to push her off. He wasn't sure how she'd react if he did, so Hunter just let it go, as he always tried to do. He felt like he was going to throw up; the entire situation was that uncomfortable. He had no idea how to deal with something like this - who did, really? It was just one of those things...except not. This didn't fit into any perceivable category. People were staring now, and Hunter just shook his head back at the onlookers so as to say, "I have no idea, either." And he didn't really. Hunter just had no idea.

"Hunter, it's me. It's Evelyn. Your other sister. I-I can't believe it. After ten years, I found you. Oh my God, Hunter. How are you? What's been going on? Olivia. Is she here as well?" Hunter was still quiet, not caring that he wasn't answering Evelyn's question. He didn't know what to say. Finally she let him go, and he stood up and took a step back. Who was this girl? He thought he had that question answered already: Evelyn Grace Fletcher. Hell, he wasn't even sure he could believe that anymore. After ten years, I found you. That same sentence repeated over and over in Hunter's head. She was...looking for him? Finally he managed to utter something. "I - I think you've got the wrong Hunter Thomas. I have one. Sister." Then he waited for her to react - he knew already that it was not going to be pretty. This is what you get for making all that noise in a library...

Evelyn watched quietly as Hunter backed away from her. She sighed. This was going to be really hard. She was tired. Maybe she should should just leave the library. Forget she had ever talked to him. He didn't remember her. Did this mean Olivia wouldn't as well? Evelyn suddenly wished she was at home, sleeping in her bed. Arianna would be playing the violin and Hanna would screaming at her to "stop playing that damn thing." Mr. Fletcher would yell at the two girls, and then Mrs. Fletcher would yell at him for yelling at her daughters. She would get up and probably trip over something, breaking the tension as they all laughed. She looked back up at him as he spoke.

"I - I think you've got the wrong Hunter Thomas. I have one. Sister." Hunter said. It tore Evelyn up inside to hear him say that. To know that her own brother had no idea who she was. But then again, he and Olivia had only been four when their parents left Evelyn at the foster care center. She dropped her head in her hands and gently scraped her nails against her scalp. Her hair felt soft and silky. She tried to relax. But she couldn't. It was too hard. She had to get him to remember. She would do anything to get him to remember. Suddenly, she remembered: the picture. She had a picture of the three of them as kids tucked away in her backpack. Which was up in her dorm.

Evelyn was on her feet in an instant. "I have proof, Hunter. Proof that I'm your sister. Proof that you and Olivia are my biological siblings. Just please come with me," she pleaded, taking his hands in her own. If he went with her, she'd able to show him. Then he would see that she wasn't a loon. But would he?

"I have proof, Hunter. Proof that I'm your sister. Proof that you and Olivia are my biological siblings. Just please come with me." Hunter couldn't decide whether to go or not. On one hand, Evelyn was obviously out of her mind and probably not worth his time. But he could at least just go and see the picture - that is, if there was one - and then just...well, he didn't know what he'd do at that point. Maybe he'd just run or something. Whatever it took to get away from this insane girl. Hunter wondered if he was the only person this happened to. Perhaps she was delusional or something and thought that everyone was her sibling. Is this what he had nearly befriended seconds ago? Some lunatic, crazy freak?

No, don't think like that. It's not her fault if she's crazy. It wasn't in Hunter's good nature to call someone a freak, even in thought. And if he was going to be nice, he'd might as well go all the way with it. "Fine," he said. "I'll go with you, but...just don't be too disappointed if I don't recognize you." Hunter wasn't completely sure what would happen after he told her they were not related. He had absolutely no idea. Not with someone like her.

The second Hunter agreed, Evelyn practically dragged him to her dorm. She was so nervous. Excited. She was angry. Confused. Hurt that he didn't recognize her. Her heat was beating hard against her chest. It started to get hard for her to breathe again. She inhaled and exhaled slowly, trying to relax. If she didn't stop, she was going to scare Hunter off before they even reached the dorms. "You'll see," she said determinedly. She ignore the curious looks from the students they passed, and finally, reached the dorm. In a breathless tone, she mumbled the password and pulled Hunter inside. The common room only had a few students in it. She didn't even glance at them. They weren't important right now. "Stay here," Evelyn instructed and gently pushed him onto the nearest chair. She shot him a small smile and bolted up the stairs so fast it was a wonder she didn't trip.

Evelyn burst inside her dorm room and ran over to her bed. People probably thought she had finally snapped. But she didn't care. Evelyn couldn't believe this. Hunter was downstairs. Her brother. He was waiting for her. When she didn't hear from Hunter or Olivia, she had thought that they had hated her. She assumed her parents had tricked them into not liking her anymore. Not loving her. But they just hadn't remembered her. Would the picture work? Would it jog Hunter's memory? Evelyn frantically dug through her suitcase, being careful not to mess anything up. She pulled out a small backpack, unzipped it, and reached inside, knowing the picture was nestled at the bottom. Fingers closed around the fragile picture and she pulled it out. Evelyn tossed her bag on her bed and ran back downstairs. In her rush, she didn't see the abandoned book. Crash. Evelyn fell to the floor and landed on her arm. She groaned and pushed herself up, ignoring the giggles from the other kids. Blocking out the pain, Evelyn sat next to Hunter. "This is from when we were kids," she whispered. Her hands were shaking so badly she was afraid she would rip the picture right in half. She swallowed and glanced down at it. It had been taken on a warm, sunny day. Evelyn, being the tallest, was in the middle. Hunter stood to the left and Olivia to the right. Evelyn had both her arms around their waists. Hunter and Olivia each had one arm around their big sister's waist. All three children were smiling. Would this work? No. No. It had to work. Evelyn watched Hunter carefully, feeling she was going to have an anxiety attack. What would he think?

Evelyn dragged Hunter to her dorm. She was obviously ecstatic about this, although he couldn't help but noticing how quickly her mood was changing. He hoped she didn't do this all the time, and that it was just because of him. Then again, he was hoping that he didn't have anything to do with it. Hunter wished he had nothing to do with this at all. It was truly the most awkward, mind-boggling day of his life. So far, at least. You never do truly know what comes next.

"Stay here." Hunter thought for a moment about running. Evelyn wouldn't be able to catch him if she didn't see him leave. But he nodded, and she smiled and dashed up the stairs. After a few moments, she came down just as fast as she went up, tripping on a book and crashing onto the floor. Hunter nearly jumped up, ready to help her, but she managed to get up on her own. She sat next to him, holding the picture in front of him. "This is from when we were kids."

Hunter couldn't believe his eyes. There she was, standing next to him and Olivia. It was the girl from the photo he had found in his home a few years back, one he had been told was of his mother as a child. She obviously knew him somehow, but he didn't remember her. The picture didn't bring back any memories, as if Evelyn was somehow removed from his memory in the first place.

No, that wasn't possible. Hunter had no second sister; he would have remembered her if he did. He was a good four years old or so there, so there was no way he could have completely forgotten her. "I - I don't believe what I'm seeing," he began. "But I just don't remember this. I don't know if you or a family friend or something back then, but I know you weren't my sister. Sorry."

Evelyn watched Hunter's face for any signs of recognition. Any signs of him remembering. For a moment, he looked shocked. Then his facial expression changed again. Evelyn swallowed. Please, please, Hunter. You have to remember. How could he not remember his own sister? The three of them were inseparable when they were younger. They were always playing together. Hunter and Olivia used to sneak out of their beds and climb into Evelyn's during the middle of the night. "I - I don't believe what I'm seeing," Hope swelled in Evelyn's chest. "But I just don't remember this. I don't know if you or a family friend or something back then, but I know you weren't my sister. Sorry." Bam. Evelyn felt like Hunter had just kicked her in the throat. So he really didn't remember. Tears filled her eyes and she not-so-gently tore the picture out of his grasp, shoving it into her pocket.

She was crying now. People were staring. But she couldn't help it. "H-how c-can y-you n-not r-r-remember your o-own s-sister?" she croaked. Her whole body was shaking. Hot tears spilled down her cheeks, and she tasted them on her tongue. Her makeup was going to be messed up, but she didn't give a damn. Her own brother had no idea who she was. That meant Olivia wouldn't either. "For fuck's sake, Hunter, remember!" She clutched his shoulders gently and stared into his eyes. "You. Are. My. Brother." She was so angry. She was so hurt. It reminded her of the time one of the other foster children at the center had stolen her lunch, ate it in front of her, and then told her that she would never live with a family again. She had been more hurt by the boy's words than the fact that he had eaten her lunch. Evelyn slowly released his shoulders and wiped furiously at her eyes. It was impossible. This wasn't happening. She was dreaming. Just to be sure, she pinched herself and yelped in pain. No, she wasn't dreaming. She was awake. And that made everything worse than any nightmare she could ever have.

Something was coming. Hunter knew it. And he knew it was going to be big. Not that he expected anything less from this girl, of course. At this point, he was expecting the opposite of what he'd expect. Although didn't that mean he should expect what to expect? Hunter didn't need a paradox, though; he needed for Evelyn to calm down. He needed to find out who she really was, and why she seemed to believe so strongly that she was his sister. And he needed to find out more about that picture she showed him. When were they ever together? Hunter didn't remember an Evelyn Grace Fletcher at all, and you would think he definitely would if she was, in fact, his sister. But that was it: she wasn't. Just some crazy girl who needed her head checked.

She ripped the photograph from his hands, putting it back into her pocket. She was crying again, this time worse than before. Tears were streaming down her face, she was shaking, and everyone in the room was staring at the pair. "For fuck's sake, Hunter, remember! You. Are. My. Brother" Evelyn was starting to sound angry at him. Yeah, as if it's my fault. She lightly grabbed his shoulders, her eyes staring into his. But Hunter got nothing. He was confused, sure, but other than that...blank. He gently moved her wrists off of him, saying quietly, "No. I'm not." That was all he could think of. And it was all there was to say.

"No. I'm not." Hunter sounded so sure. Yes. You are my brother. Evelyn sighed. Convincing Hunter that she was his sister was going to be difficult. She sat back and buried her head in her hands. After all these years, they were finally reunited. But of course he wouldn't remember her. She didn't understand how that could be. She was his bloody sister for fuck's sake. You don't just forget family members. Evelyn pinched the bridge of her nose. What could she do to get him to remember? The picture hadn't worked. Perhaps she could talk about some memories? It's worth a shot.

Evelyn looked up and met Hunter's eyes. "I'm not a fucking family friend, Hunter. I'm your damn sister. Mom and--your parents are both Purebloods. Riley and Bryon. Please, Hunter. You have to remember." She didn't really know what she could talk about. If he didn't remember her, then he most likely wouldn't remember anything she tried to talk about. "The day I was abandoned, you and Olivia were crying. I was holding onto you guys. Remember? That morning, we were all excited because we thought we were going on a trip. You gave me your stuffed Hippogriff to put in my bag bag because you didn't want to hold him the whole time. So I did. You loved that thing, Hunter." She wished she had the stuffed animal with her, but she had lost it at some point while moving around from foster home to foster home. She shut her eyes, forcing herself to breathe slowly. Evelyn had slept with that damn dinosaur every night up until she lost it. She would never forget how it looked. "The damn thing was missing an eye. So you named him Captain One Eye. Remember, Hunter. Please. Evelyn knew he probably wouldn't remember. But she had to try. She wouldn't give up.

Hunter listened as Evelyn told him about his parents. To his amazement - as well as his concern - she was right about them. They were Riley and Bryon, and they were Purebloods. How does she know about my parents? Was she a stalker? Was she obsessed with him? Did she follow him around the school and find out every little bit of information about him? Perhaps she had found that picture in his stuff and magically edited herself in somehow. But that still didn't explain why he found her picture years ago. Nothing was making sense to Hunter anymore. The more Evelyn tried to explain everything to him, the more confusing it all became.

"The day I was abandoned, you and Olivia were crying. I was holding onto you guys. Remember? That morning, we were all excited because we thought we were going on a trip. You gave me your stuffed Hippogriff to put in my bag because you didn't want to hold him the whole time. So I did. You loved that thing, Hunter. The damn thing was missing an eye. So you named him Captain One Eye. Remember, Hunter. Please." Hunter struggled to remember what she was talking about. Unsurprisingly, this didn't bring up any memories either. It was as if Evelyn was making all of this up. Hunter wouldn't doubt that she was. Of course, he didn't know that his parents had wiped those memories of Captain One Eye from his mind since it involved his long-lost sister, but unfortunately knowing this wasn't the case, and so he stood there, eyebrows furrowing, wearing a bewildered expression on his face. He didn't know how much longer he could take it; this had never happened before, but Hunter was reaching his breaking point. It sounded impossible, yet it was true. "I...I don't know what to say to you. I think I should go," he finally spoke after a long moment of silence. He didn't leave like he said he should, but he was definitely planning on it, soon.
