Reggie didn't know where Rae was, and that was bugging her. Usually, Rae was good about telling her where she'd be going. Well, that was a bloody lie, but at least she usually made enough noise to be caught at it before she got too far out the door. Today, she had slipped off without the slightest trace, and that made Reggie a little nervous. If she and Dez were off getting blitzed, it was Reggie that would end up cleaning it up, and she was not in the mood. Without her twin to entertain her, and not very inclined to go seeking out their other friends in her current mood, Reggie stalked off towards study hall a few books in her hands and a pack of Exploding Snap cards in her pocket. It had gotten to the point where she knew she had to do some studying, otherwise she was bound to get a letter sent home. Best not to worry her parents, with all they were going through. Still, she wasn't happy about it. She would rather have been flying around on the pitch, not studying which Minister made which law in which year.
Bollocks. There was no one in the study hall room when she entered, and she cursed loudly. She had been halfway hoping to run into someone, just for an excuse not to study. She didn't want to go seeking anyone out, but she wouldn't mind taking anyone who happened to present themselves. So much for that. Grumbling rather loudly, she shoved the books onto the desk and opened one of them. She was supposed to be writing an essay, rather late now, about the development of Beast and Being laws. Just to bother her more, it had to be six whole inches long. Her teacher would have done better to make her stand on one foot and balance a bludger on her bat. Maybe she could have managed that. She had gotten through about one page of the History reading before she caught sight of the Exploding Snap cards and decided that one game of Exploding Solitaire wasn't going to kill her. She had just turned up the last Ace when there was a POOF and she barked, "Blimey!" and shielded her eyes.
She was coughing too loudly to hear the door open at first, and when she did, she toppled off her seat in shock. Wiping the soot off her face, she shouted, "Bloody 'ell, lass, ya meanin' to kill me?" Blinking, she realized she knew this girl. At least mildly. "'Ey, Synnthia, righ'?" A sudden idea made her smirk. "'Ow are you with 'istory?"

Synn knew she should be studying, she'd already finished most of her work, but there were one or two things she just didn't feel up for finishing. Potions. Last year she'd tried to get ahead of her stupidity by reading all the potions before hand. She hadn't looked at them in weeks. She wasn't used to being so terribly out of sync. She was headed to the study hall, hoping to get a little bit of alone time. Well, not really, she was just hoping to actually finish her work. Alone time was getting to be most of the time, and no one really enjoyed it that much. Synn carried a small bag with her, black canvas, that held her book, some parchment, ink, and quills. She found that sometimes writing things down helped her to remember them better.
Synnthia pulled the bag up to her shoulder, the weight digging in, despite the layers she was wearing. She quickened her pace through the halls, trying to focus her thoughts on her work, what she had to do. She had a list in her mind; review Potions work, read the next few chapters for History of Magic, despite the fact that she was ahead already, and find the willpower to actually attend Defense Against the Dark Arts. She didn't want to go, it brought up too many emotions that she found she'd rather not feel. She was scared to go, honestly. So she'd have to figure out what she was going to do, before Aunt Gene got wind of it.
As Synn approached the study hall, she heard a loud sound, and then a shout. She hurried the rest of the way to the door, and pulled it opened, wondering what on Earth was going on that had caused that sound. Her worst thought, well... she refused to admit her first thought was a possibility. People shouting didn't really make her any less jumpy than she already was, and made her fear for the worst imaginable. But behind the door was a familiar looking redhead who proceeded to fall from her seat upon noticing Synn's presence. "Er, no?" Synn wasn't sure how to reply to the girl's question, knowing it was rhetorical, but also knowing that rhetorical only went so far in the real world. "I would be. You're one of the Weasley twins," it wasn't a querstion, more of an acknowledgement of recognition. That was as much as Synn could remember. Being a twin herself, she found it ironic that she couldn't tell the two apart. She'd never really needed to, but still, irony. "It's my best subject," she sounded confused. Why would this girl care how she was at History of Magic?

"Er, no?" Reggie just shook her head, chuckling. Her heart still pounded a bit. Then it hit her. Reggie wasn't exactly as devious and as criminal as Rae, but she also had very little interest in academic subjects. Magic was all well and good and she loved waving her wand about and producing all sorts of fun effects, but when it came to anything where all she got to do was read loads of passages and write loads of essays, she would rather have locked herself in a room with a blast-ended skrewt. Now she didn't know Synn terribly well, but she remembered her a little from back at Hogwarts, and there was a decent chance that she was one of those smart, intellectual students who actual gave two jots about school. She wasn't too good to ask. If Synn would help her iron this paper out in under three quarters of an hour so she could be on the pitch before dinner, then exposing herself as a slacker was perfectly grand. Smirking a little deviously at the girl, she waited for the affirmative.
"I would be. You're one of the Weasley twins," she said. Alright, so Reggie had gotten that part right. Synn. Good. People were always more likely to help you if you actually showed them some consideration--something that Rae had never quite mastered. Of course, she chuckled at the lack of specificity. "The one called Reggie," she said with a bit of dryness. It was awful for most people to tell the two apart, unless they knew their mannerisms and such. Usually it didn't mind her much, but every so often it got annoying, especially when Sawyer or Richard or Damon would do it. Rare, but it happened. But that didn't matter, because she said the magic word: "It's my best subject." Reggie, the cool, collected twin, looked positively gleeful. She brandished her piece of parchment like it was a banner and said with a wide-eyed grin, "So, you wouldn't mind 'elping out an 'ousemate with a mite of an essay, wouldn't you?"
She pointed to the pages of the book she was supposed to be reading. "I'm right 'orrible at all this Ministry stuff. Merlin 'elp me if I know all them laws and Ministers and rot." Reggie looked a little bedraggled. This was so not her forte.

Synn felt a little embarassed by the fact that she didn't know which twin was which. She really should have paid attention to people more at Hogwarts. Now there were people she'd never meet. From the optimistic standpoint, it was a good thing because then she might have lost them. But she wasn't exactly an optimist. No, she was more of the doom and gloom type. Or at least she was now. "I'm sorry, Reggie," she apologized for not knowing it. She didn't think she'd make that mistake again, but she didn't doubt that she probably would slip up once or twice. Not that she knew the other's name at all. Really, was it that hard for her to just meet people? She took all the same classes as most of them, why wouldn't she know them?
The redhead asked Synnthia if she would mind helping her out on her paper. Synn smiled, it made her earlier question make much more sense. She didn't see why she couldn't help the girl out, she could read over her potions book another time. "Sure, the Ministry, you say? What part of the Ministry?" That was the key information. The history of the Ministry was fairly complex, especially if the girl was studying the Wizengamot, it could get even worse. "Persuasive, or informative, what point are you supposed to be making?" She needed to know the assignment before she dealt with anything else. She'd probably already done this one, but it was hard to keep track, for her. Besides, the Weasley girl might be writing it completely differently than hers had been. It would make it easier, because then Synn wouldn't have to worry about their papers sounding too similar.
