Former independent wrestler El Generico - known for his work with Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and Chikara - made his highly anticipated debut this Wednesday, with WWE's Florida-based developmental promotion, NXT.Surprisingly, he was introduced as "El Generico", and accompanied WWE Superstar Brodus Clay to the ring for a singles match against Conner O'Brian, wearing his usual attire. Typically WWE repackages their stars before allowing them to appear in NXT (formerly FCW) - Brian Danielson as Daniel Bryan, Tyler Black as Seth Rollins, etc. The last big name wrestler to come out of the independents, and keep his gimmick, was former WWE Champion, CM Punk. -source |
