How to Deal With Cops (and get out of crimes) May 21, 2012 by Tucker Max & Nils Parker If you spend enough time going out drinking and partying, at some point–even if you’re not a “troublemaker”–you’re going to run into problems with the cops. And if you party like I did, you’re going to have run-ins with A LOT of cops. During a decade of doing ridiculously stupid shit, I’ve been under threat of arrest and been taken into custody so many times I used to know arrest procedures as well as the guys slapping on the cuffs. Despite all that, I’ve never faced a serious felony charge, or really even a serious misdemeanor. So how did I accomplish that? How did I avoid consequences I should have faced? Well like everything else in life, there is a right way and a wrong way to deal with cops, and I did it the right way. If you are in high school or college, you are probably just starting to party seriously and deal with more adult situations, and you almost certainly have a lot of stupid ideas about cops and the law. While partying and getting into a little trouble is fine, those faulty ideas you have will eventually land you in a lot of trouble. This post is for you; the young kid who likes to get drunk and do stupid shit, but doesn’t want to go to jail. It is a (long) guide on how to properly deal with cops so, when you finally cross that line, you get in the minimum trouble possible. -read more |

10 Rules For Dealing With Cops, By A Cop Neill Franklin, as a 33-year law enforcement veteran and former training commander with the Maryland State Police and Baltimore Police Department, knows that it is pretty easy for the cops to intimidate citizens. Therefore, he shares with the public top 10 basic legal and practical survival strategies for handling police encounters, even the most frightening ones, in a 40-minte docudrama film 10 Rules for Dealing with Police. According to Neil, the most important message is that it doesn’t matter what the officer says (because they are trained to shake people’s confidence); one must remain calm and protect his/her rights. The notion that “cops can do whatever they want” will remain a notion if people are educated about their constitutional rights. Police can be held accountable, both on the street and in a court of law, and police abuse and misconduct can be checked if the public knows how to protect its individual rights and recognize injustices against others. 10 Rules for Dealing with Police aims at reducing the tension between cops and the communities they serve. Remember to remember these and use them fearlessly before you move out of your home next time! -read more |
